With a growing number of pupils requiring additional support across Nursery, Reception, and Key Stage 1, the school has invested in robust pastoral systems, behaviour mentoring, and SEND provision.Role PurposeThe Behaviour Mentor will support children experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation, social interaction, behaviour for learning, or engagement in school routines. Pupils may present with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, attachment difficulties, or developmental delays affecting social and emotional skills.You will act as a consistent, calm, and trusted adult, supporting children in classrooms, small group interventions, and during unstructured times such as play and lunch. By nurturing relationships and implementing structured strategies, you will help pupils develop self-confidence, resilience, and social skills.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver 1:1 emotional and behavioural support for pupils with additional needsLead small group interventions focusing on social skills, self-regulation, and emotional literacySupport pupils within Nursery, Reception, and Key Stage 1 classroomsAssist with daily transitions, routines, and coping strategiesSupport behaviour management during playtimes, lunchtimes, and other unstructured periodsImplement behaviour support plans and monitor pupil progressUse play-based, restorative, and trauma-informed strategiesModel positive behaviour and emotional regulation for pupilsObserve, assess, and record pupil behaviour, and report outcomesContribute to planning, review meetings, and multi-agency discussionsBuild strong, professional relationships with parents and carersWork collaboratively with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO, and pastoral teamsUphold safeguarding and child protection policies consistentlyPromote a school culture of empathy, inclusion, and respectThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be compassionate, calm, and emotionally resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young children.
