    Your new role
    As an Electrical Network Technician, you will be a key player in the operation, maintenance, and development of a large-scale private high-voltage distribution network. Based at a major UK port, your responsibilities will include ensuring the safe and efficient performance of electrical assets such as substations, switchgear, and critical infrastructure, including bridges and waterways.You will carry out planned maintenance, respond to faults, and support improvement projects to ensure minimal disruption to port operations. A significant part of your role will involve preparing, authorising, and executing both low and high-voltage switching operations in line with safety regulations and operational procedures.What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience working with high-voltage electrical systems (up to 33kV or higher).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution networks and safety protocols.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
  • High-voltage authorisation or the ability to obtain it quickly.
  • A proactive approach to fault-finding and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to participate in out-of-hours call-outs or standby rotas.

  • What you'll need to succeed
    With a keen interest in Engineering and ideally educated to a minimum of 'HNC' level standard or equivalent, you will be able to maintain a high level of attention to detail, consistency and accuracy in testing and report writing. You will be a fully competent user of MS Office package (specifically MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook) and be able to communicate effectively throughout the organisation and beyond.

    Our client is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer/Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their infrastructure team and support their growing workload. They seek a well-rounded professional with expertise in drainage and infrastructure design. You will be required to work in the Leicester office as regularly as possible, and they are open to discussions on this. Our client is considering full-time and part-time workers.     About the Role

    The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant design standards and guidelines, be actively involved in fee proposals and project management, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. They should be confident in a client-facing role and able to delegate work effectively while mentoring junior staff. Our client works with private developers, public bodies, and contractors, so strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.

    Requirements

    Minimum 5 years' experience in a UK consultancy, working on diverse drainage design projects across various project stages.
    Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Site 3D, and InfoDrainage (or equivalent software).
    Strong knowledge of drainage design standards, guidelines, and processes.
    Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    Ability to manage multiple projects of varying scales simultaneously.
    Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging professionally with clients, contractors, and design teams.
    Strong writing skills, with experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Drainage Strategies, and technical reports.
    Understanding of multi-disciplinary projects from planning through to completion.
    Chartered or working towards chartership (preferred but not essential).

    Technical Experience

    Expertise in drainage design for civil engineering projects, including SuDS implementation.
    Liaising with planning authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs), statutory undertakers, and national bodies like the Environment Agency.
    Experience attending client meetings and engaging with key stakeholders.
    Preparing Section 104, 106, and 185 drainage designs and applications.
    Knowledge of DMRB, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, CIRIA Guidance, and Local Authority drainage standards.
    Detailed on-plot drainage design (surface and foul water) for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
    Highway drainage design expertise.
    Modelling SuDS features (e.g., ponds, basins, tanks, rain gardens, swales).
    Involvement in the tender process and construction phase, responding to contractor queries and RFIs.

    Desirable Skills (Not Essential)

    Candidates with additional experience in highway design would be highly valued. This includes:

    Section 278 / 38 highway designs following DMRB and Local Authority standards.
    Vehicle tracking and design of residential estate roads, commercial/industrial access points, and car parks.
    Ground modelling, earthworks design, and pavement design.

    The Role of Technical Support Engineer

    • The role of an electro-mechanical technical support engineer is to ensure that all aspects of a power generation or CHP installation are correctly designed, installed, and tested to the design specification for each application.
    • You will have responsibility to ensure the installation operates as designed in all expected operating conditions before handover and collaboration with the maintenance team.
