Overview This is a role for a Pensions Solicitor (Head of Department) to join a national law firm in Birmingham. The position is full-time with a highly competitive salary. You will lead and expand the firm’s established Birmingham pensions practice, operating at Partner or Legal Director level. Your work will involve advising employers, trustees, public sector bodies, and corporate clients on a wide array of pensions issues, including scheme governance and restructuring. This strategic appointment requires a senior lawyer with strong commercial insight, ready to shape the department’s direction. You will collaborate with nationally recognised specialists from other practice areas across the firm. The Role Advise a diverse client base that includes employers, trustees, public sector organisations and corporate clients on a broad range of pensions matters. Cover areas such as scheme governance, benefit redesign, regulatory compliance, corporate transactions, de-risking exercises and complex advisory work. Work closely with colleagues across corporate, employment, banking and real estate to develop client relationships, win new work and mentor the next generation of pensions lawyers. Influence the future direction of the team and contribute to the firm’s wider national pensions strategy. Candidate Qualified Solicitors with extensive pensions experience gained within a recognised regional, national or international law firm. Strong technical expertise, excellent commercial awareness and a proven track record of delivering pragmatic advice to a broad client base. Experience of leading teams, developing client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives is highly advantageous.
