This is an opportunity to work on a substantial roundabout project in Colchester, taking ownership of setting out, quality, engineering delivery and the coordination of works on site. You will be joining an established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the Eastern region. You will have the opportunity to work on technically interesting schemes, develop your engineering experience and take greater responsibility for project delivery. My client is a well-established civil engineering contractor with a strong presence across highways and infrastructure. The business delivers complex civil engineering projects and places a strong emphasis on quality, safety, technical standards and developing its engineering teams. As the Section Engineer, you will play an important part in progressing the construction programme and ensuring your section of works is delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with the required design and specification. You will be: ·Managing the setting out requirements for your section of the project. ·Carrying out inspections and testing to ensure works comply with the design, specification and quality requirements. ·Liaising with site management and completing quality take-offs. ·Preparing and contributing to hazard assessments, risk assessments and method statements. ·Identifying potential commercial opportunities or issues associated with your section of works. ·Managing sectional service plans and drawings and issuing relevant permits. ·Supporting and mentoring Junior Engineers on site. ·Working with the Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager to provide information for project records and claims. ·Managing as-built information for your section and contributing to completion of the project health and safety file. ·Ensuring your works comply with the required quality, health and safety and environmental procedures. ·Transferring engineering information from AutoCAD into surveying equipment and using site surveying technology effectively. To be considered for this Section Engineer opportunity, you will need: ·Strong setting out experience gained on civil engineering or infrastructure projects. ·Experience working on highways, roads and/or earthworks schemes. ·Experience using Leica and/or GeoMax surveying equipment. ·The ability to transfer information from AutoCAD to surveying equipment. ·A good understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality assurance processes. ·A sound understanding of construction methods and site engineering practices. ·The ability to coordinate your own section of works and support other members of the engineering team. ·A full UK driving licence due to the site-based nature of the position and potential travel across the Eastern region. A First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. The Section Engineer salary/rate is dependent on experience, with the overall package reflecting your technical background and suitability for the position.
