    Apprentice Software Engineer Level 4 Apprenticeship Software Engineering Havant About the Role We have an exciting opportunity to join the Lockheed Martin team as a Software Engineer Level 4 Apprentice. 

    This role pertains to various programmes within the UK RMS portfolio of programmes across the UK. Initially the role will be based around the Havant location and embedded within a team of Software Engineers working on a large military helicopter programme.

    It is expected that the successful candidate will go on to progress to a full degree upon successful completion of this Level 4 apprenticeship.

    The Software Engineer will be responsible for tasks as assigned by the Software Lead. The Software Engineer will report to the Engineering Operations Leader for that portfolio.

    Duties will include:Working with senior engineers during requirements analysis – converting operational needs into technical requirements specifications.Contributing to design of high level software architectures.Develop software according to requirements and department processes.Supporting implementation teams throughout development, testing, and system acceptance phases.Supporting Integration & Test team during formal test phases.Supporting technical investigations of problems raised against the operational systems.Producing, collecting and reporting appropriate metrics showing progress.Using Metrics to guide decisions and for management reporting.Although primarily a Software Development role encompassing all stages of the Software Development Cycle, the candidate will be exposed to several disciplines including Systems, Integration & Test and Safety Engineering.

    You’ll need to have an understanding of Windows and Linux systems and DevSecOps principles and experience of working within a multi-disciplined team. Additionally, we’re looking for candidates with hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, including expertise in areas such as cloud architecture, containerization (., Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code (., Terraform, Ansible), and system performance optimization to support seamless integration and testing processes.
