    \nYou will need to be a strong swimmer with fantastic attention to detail to ensure you can monitor the pool at busy times. If you have a previous lifeguard qualification, we would love to hear from you. However, we are also happy to support you with gaining your NPLQ with us too.
     
    You will work alongside a great team but there will be times where you are supervising areas independently. 
     
    Our business is open 7 days a week and therefore flexibility, reliability and punctuality are all essential, as you will form an important part of a team.

    Key Accountabilities

    Acting as a technical PoC for power electronic systems involved with AC to DC, DC to AC, DC to DC conversion and solid-state power controllers.

This will include consideration of power quality, EMC and protection aspects of the electrical power system and the interaction of the constituent parts.
    Taking full ownership of specific solutions and approaches from their concept stage through to design, testing and final installation to satisfy the associated requirements. This will include a range of disciplines including electrical, thermal and mechanical aspects of the design.
    Presenting the power electronic solutions at appropriate design review gates as the design and development activities progress. Where necessary interfacing with both internal and external customers.
    Driving new and innovative approaches to improve on existing traditional methods wherever possible. The capture of intellectual property and directing longer term research activities at the company's university technology centres are essential aspects of the role.
    Working in the power electronics team offering expert advice and mentoring younger power electronics engineers. Working across teams where necessary to ensure an optimum system solution and knowledge share.
    Keeping a watching brief on the latest developments in power electronics technology including semiconductor devices, gate driver technology and control methods to ensure Rolls-Royce maintains its competitive edge.
    Liaising with the wider international power electronics community including the global community of practice group to share knowledge and to support the development of common standards and design guidelines.

    What we're looking for:

This will include an appreciation of power dense rotating electrical machines and battery energy storage systems.

    • Direct experience of the modelling and simulation tools used for designing and developing power electronic conversion systems operating within a multi-converter electrical power system.

    • Demonstratable experience of PCB design using Altium and/or Cadence would be an advantage.

    • A working appreciation of associated engineering disciplines; University degree, higher degree or equivalent.

    • Good time management skills able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Dynamically respond to evolving objectives and emerging opportunities while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary, energetic team of engineers and scientists

    The Chief Project Engineer (Commercial & Naval Marine Installed Products) will be the representative for all technical issues with suppliers, customers, and operators for the installed product base (electrical), specifically ASTUTE, DREADNOUGHT (once Boat 1 hardware has been delivered) and surface warship electrical distribution systems and equipment, including the Marello DC Hybrid system.     The Chief Project Engineer leads the engineering effort to ensure the delivery of all engineering work in a project on behalf of the Chief Marine Engineer and will be required to work closely with the Rolls-Royce core engineering leadership as required to sustain rigorous engineering capability and will also work with NautIQ Solutions Engineering Team Leads on a daily basis to ensure engineering efficacy and delivery against schedule is sustained. The CPE should own and deliver packages of work in line with cost quality, and schedule requirements. The CPE must do this for the whole programme, and in doing so, will provide leadership and governance for all of the engineers working on the programme.     NautIQ Solutions is responsible for low voltage distribution equipment on various Naval applications including submarines and also the expanding range of DC Hybrid propulsion systems for the Commercial Marine market. This position will be responsible for all installed products on Naval and Commercial Marine platforms, including DREADNOUGHT.

    Accountabilities as a Chief Project Engineer:

    • Assisting the Chief Marine Engineer with assuring and managing product safety through compliant use of proven processes and lead closure strategies to timely completion.
