    Teacher of Music 0.6

    - Sandwell

Job DescriptionRequired from September 2025 – ECTs welcome to apply
Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1,965 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students.

Over recent years examination results have continued to improve which is reflected in our 2024 value added figure of +0.17 published by the DFE. This is expected to be further enhanced in 2025 with an EBacc cohort now approaching 40%. Phoenix is a school that aspires to turn every child’s dream into reality; believes that there is no limit to what can be achieved and succeeds through passion, commitment and determination.

We are seeking to appoint a highly talented and innovative, qualified teacher of Music to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for someone who has a confident understanding of music theory and practical music performance skills, in order to effectively deliver a rich and varied musical curriculum and the ability to inspire excellent learning. You would ideally have experience in the planning and teaching of KS4 music and to have an enthusiastic approach to extra-curricular opportunities.

As a school we have a fabulous CPD offer to support colleagues at whatever point in their career they are, from our ITT to our senior leaders. We also offer our staff a supportive welfare package including, but not limited to, access to physiotherapy, nurse & doctor appointments and counselling. Phoenix is one of only a few schools nationally to benefit from the government’s priority schools building programme and our state-of-the-art facilities are second to none.

The students and staff at Phoenix face an exciting future. If you would like to be part of a school that is committed to becoming the very best, and if you can inspire and motivate our students, you could be the person for this role.
