Due to an increased workload, we require a Level 3 qualified motor vehicle technician to join our team in a busy independent workshop. Preferably an MOT tester as well but training can be arranged for the right candidate. We require a self-motivated person who can carry out general servicing and repairs to a broad range of cars and light vans from our own stock and customers vehicles. This will include Diagnosing faults, ordering parts and talking to customers to explain faults & repairs. Basic computer skills will be required for our modern workshop software packages and diagnostic systems. We offer 22 days paid holiday per year as well as bank holidays, free on site parking and uniform will be provided.

    NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
    Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role
    Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

    Requirements

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Geophysicist with the following profile:

    Academic Qualifications: A postgraduate degree in geophysics or a related field.

    Experience: At least 7 years of relevant hands-on experience in high-resolution, near-surface geophysical investigations, with a proven track record of managing complex, large-scale geophysical projects from planning through to delivery. The successful candidate will have significant experience leading teams and overseeing high-value projects.

    Technical Expertise: Proficiency in a wide range of geophysical methods, including:

    Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
    Electromagnetics (EM)
    Magnetometry
    Microgravity
    Electrical methods (e.g., resistivity, induced polarisation)
    Seismic methods (e.g., P- and S-wave seismic refraction, surface wave analysis

    Software Proficiency: Expertise in geophysical data processing and interpretation software such as Oasis Montaj, GeoGiga, SurfSeis, Res2Dinv, Zonde, Aarhus Workbench, or similar. Experience with coding in Python for custom data processing and automation is highly desirable, as well as proficiency with GIS and mapping tools like AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, and QGIS.

    Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership capabilities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to present complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential.

    _ So what will you be doing? _

    We have a decent sized fleet of vehicles and trailers that we like to keep in the best of health so day to day you will be running maintenance on our fleet and ensuring they are kept safe, as well as responding to driver reported defects.

    _ You will be responsible for: _

    Repair and maintenance of the fleet in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.

    Preparing vehicles and trailers for their 6 weekly inspections

    Running diagnostics on vehicles utilising a range of equipment.

    Rectifying driver reportable defects.

    Tyre checks and maintenance.

    Pre MOT inspections and preparation.

    Presenting vehicles for their inspections and MOT.

    Other general repair and maintenance as required by the management team.

    Ensuring that you work within the Health & Safety regulations

    Carrying our roadside repairs as and when necessary.

    Reporting to the Transport Manager ensuring that all necessary check sheets, timesheets etc are completed accurately and submitted on time.

    Assisting in carrying out daily spot checks.

    What are we are looking for?

    Someone who has good open communication skills both verbal and written whilst having the ability to work as part of our team and also as an individual using their own initiative. You'll also be able to work well under pressure with a pro active response in finding a solution to a problem.

    You will be flexible enough to undertake a wide range of tasks and help out the team when the need arises.

    You will have a full UK drivers' licence and ideally have a HGV qualification. A good working knowledge of the HGV/MOT regulations would also be advantageous.

    You will have experience and the ability to undertake all aspects of heavy vehicle maintenance and repair to the highest of standards in a safe professional manner.

    This is a very physical role, so the ability and knowledge of lifting and manual handling is vital.

    _ What do we offer? _

    Hours are 630pm am to 1530pm from Monday to Friday however due to the nature of the work we do there will be a requirement for the ideal candidate remain flexible as per the needs of the business.
