    Shift pattern is Monday to Friday 0600hrs - 1430hrs / 1430hrs - 2300hrs with alternative Saturday morning paid at overtime, time and a half.

    What will you bring
    Fully qualified HGV Technician (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
    Experience working with HGVs or commercial vehicles.
    Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
    A team player with a proactive attitude.
    Valid UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)

    What will you do
    Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on Volvo HGVs to the highest standards.
    Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
    Perform safety inspections, MOT preparations, and routine maintenance.
    Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with manufacturer standards.

    Who are you?
    NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
    Previous experience working as an HGV Technician (Volvo experience is a plus but not essential)
    Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
    A proactive attitude with a focus on customer service and safety
    A full UK driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not essential)

    What will you be doing
    Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer's procedures, safely and responsibly
    Ensure repairs are carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate
    Assist in the fault diagnosis process
    Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty material on completion of each repair
    Work with the Parts Team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted
    Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV licence)
    Assist with roadside breakdowns
    Ensure company time recording procedures are complied with, and that job cards are completed accurately
    Ensure service sheets are completed as per Volvo instructions
    Ensure all vehicle defects are reported to workshop controllers
    Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
    Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
    Support the development of young trainees and apprentices

    Full time permanent position Mon- Fri 40 hours – Two weeks rotating shifts, 07.00-15.30 and 09.30-18.00 (alternate Saturday mornings 07.00 – 12.00 paid at overtime) Paying above NMW dependent on age category plus overtime at time and a half
    Role:
    You will be trained in how to deliver an excellent service supplying HGV parts to customers both over the counter and by telephone, as well as issuing the correct parts orders for HGV Technicians who are carrying out repair and maintenance to vehicles in the workshop
    What you will be doing…..
    • Receiving deliveries, mark off and store parts in stockroom according to prearranged systems.
    • Locating and label parts and maintain inventory of stock.
    • Regular inventory stock counts.
    • Consistently maintaining a good standard of housekeeping in the Parts Department.
    • Report stock shortages to parts supervisor.
    • Ensuring that all parts and old units returned are labelled and packed properly and all relevant paperwork correctly completed.
    • Discussing the use and features of various parts with customers, based on knowledge of trucks and buses.
    • Accurately compile parts from job cards for repairs being carried out in the workshop.
    • Proactively selling parts and promotions to customers.
    • To work with Parts Supervisor to achieve their maximum competency level.
    • Pick up and deliver parts on occasion.
    Skills and Experience Required:
    • Driving Licence preferred, not essential
    • Able to identify different parts using catalogues and systems.

    Light To Heavy Technician- WashingtonSalary: Up to £38,000 (DOE) once qualified.Shifts: 6.00 - 14.30 and 9.30 - 18.00, and 1 Saturday in 4, paid at time and a half.What you will doAt Washington Depot you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. As a Light Vehicle Technician converting to a HGV technician, you will be joining our Service & Workshop team at our Volvo Truck and Bus Centre. Where you will be ensuring repairs are carried out according to Volvos Standards. Here at Volvo Trucks, we believe are at the forefront of Electromobility so you will also be working on a range of systems which include alternative fuels such as LNG, hybrid and Full electric vehicles.Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with these alternative systems. When joining you will be provided with a training path. Starting with an induction at the depot to foundations events which will take you through all systems you will be using. As well as a number of courses both online and in-person to develop your skills and support you in your new role.Your future team Our Washington DepotVolvo Truck and Bus Centre Washington has now been awarded the Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) status and is now working in conjunction with DVSA inspectors onsite. What you need:City and Guilds / A Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles is recommended; however, Level 2 or other similar qualification will be considered.
