We aspire to work in true partnership with our residents.\nWe recognise that cooking and planning meals is an integral part of the Rehabilitation pathway therefore good food that is nutritionally balanced and varied diet with different choices is high on our agenda.\nWe are now looking for a committed and enthusiastic Cook to join our team working 22.5hrs hours a week, being available 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year, including bank holidays as required but working predominantly a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday working week.\nIf you enjoy making a difference to people’s quality of life, you might just be the person we’re looking for.\n \n \n \n Role Responsibility\n You will be responsible for cooking an assortment of dishes to suit a variety of dietary needs. As the cook you will be expected to be involved in the individuals we support with their meal choices and menu planning. You will be jointly responsible for the ordering of stock, stock control and the managing of a food budget.  Good food, nutritionally balanced diet and choice is high on our agenda. \nThe role will involve preparing and cooking meals, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene and resolving customer queries or requests.\nYou will jointly be responsible for overseeing compliance with the Foods Standards Agency and local area Environmental Health Officer and Turning Point’s policies and procedures relating to Food Hygiene.\nThe Cook at Birchwood will also be jointly responsible for supporting residents with cooking skills by offering individual and group cooking sessions. This will require a Cook who has good interpersonal skills and an ability to motivate and engage those that we support.\n \n \n \n The Ideal Candidate\n If you have worked within a catering industry, hold NVQ Level 1 and 2 or equivalent and Food Hygiene Level 2 or City and Guilds/706/1 & 2, then this is the ideal career opportunity for an experienced, talented Cook.\nYou should have an understanding of supporting people with a mental health needs and have excellent chef skills with a good technical competence in the preparation and serving of food. You will have a good understanding of allergies legislation and a good knowledge of food diversity including Halal, Kosher and Vegan Diets amongst others, taking into consideration nutritional needs along with Service Users’ preferences.\nThe Cook at Birchwood will also be jointly responsible for supporting residents with cooking skills by offering individual and group cooking sessions. Passionate about people, you’ll support them to take control, improve their quality of life and face the future with confidence.\nWe are looking for a dedicated, passionate and skilled Recovery Support Worker to join our new team at our Crawley Crisis Service. The service provides short stay high support accommodation for people experiencing a mental health crisis. The service will cater for 6 house guest three will be short stay overnight guest and three will be day guest who engage with the service from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.\nWe aim to support our service users to develop their personal coping skills, maintain their independence in the community and develop long term resilience in managing their mental health. They are expected to fully participate in the process of planning their care attending support/key work sessions with staff; this time is for them to discuss any issues or areas of concern they may have and may include going out for a coffee, accessing community based activities, or developing practical daily living skills.\n \n \n \n Role Responsibility\n You will provide recovery focused support to service users in accordance with their support plans. You will have well-honed skills in positive communication, engagement, and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for service users.\nYou will have the maturity to work within a positive framework supporting clients. You will have the ability to deliver services and interventions in a person centred, non-judgmental manner, and recovery-based way.\nYou will work alongside members of the service user’s circle of support, to enable individuals to be happy, healthy, and successful in achieving their life goals.\nYour typical duties will include:\n\nproviding support and guidance to service users\nSupport the development of personal coping skills\nsupporting with medication management\ndaily record keeping and incident report writing\nrunning group activities\nhelp with inducting new staff members\nupholding the cleanliness of the service to adhere to infection prevention control measures\n\nYou will be required to work in a flexible manner on a rota basis including office hours, evenings, some weekends and sleep-ins.\n \n \n \n The Ideal Candidate\n Previous experience in the mental health sector is desirable but not essential. What is important is that you have a genuine desire to support individuals in their recovery and have a can-do attitude.\nWe need compassionate, proactive and professional individuals who are highly motivated, hardworking and keen to support service users with mental health and complex care needs. You also need to have the ability to support people who are experiencing a crisis.\nYou will have the maturity to work within a positive framework supporting clients.
