You will report to the Trading Director, supporting day-to-day trading operations, longer term trading and portfolio development.
With a portfolio that includes smart meters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and EV charge points, they provide complete energy solutions underpinned by engineering excellence, funding capability and advanced technology and data expertise.
With over 300MW already operational and a further 200MW under construction, this business is a key market player in UK energy trading, operating a sophisticated in-house trading function.
The Energy Trading Risk & Compliance Manager will play a crucial role in supporting trading operations, managing risk, and ensuring compliance across a dynamic and growing energy portfolio. Reporting to the Trading Director, this position spans operational oversight, strategic input, and the development of governance frameworks to support ongoing growth.
This is a client-facing, hands-on role suited to an individual with deep industry knowledge, a commercial mindset, and strong leadership capabilities. The Energy Trading Risk & Compliance Manager will also be instrumental in developing internal controls and supporting wider business innovation and expansion into new markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and enhance operational risk management frameworks Oversee internal trading controls, reporting, and monitoring systems Ensure robust operational processes are in place Develop and maintain governance frameworks and internal policies Support project setup and oversee personnel competency processes Manage processes with Elexon, trading exchanges (EPEX Spot, N2EX), and OTC trading parties Lead regulatory reporting, change management, and performance analysis Liaise with NESO and coordinate industry reporting activities Provide support across new project development and market entry initiatives
What They’re Looking For:
Industry experience and in-depth knowledge of energy trading, regulation, and risk management Hands-on experience with governance frameworks and trading operations Strong understanding of the following will be advantageous: Capacity Market, Elexon, National Grid/NESO, EPEX/N2EX, EFET/GTMA, REMIT, EMR, Settlements, Credit Background in commercial shift operations and leading cross-functional projects Skilled in interpreting data to drive decision-making and optimise trading performance
