    Chief Solution Architect

    Location: Farnborough, with flexibility to work from home dependent on business demands

    The Role:

    As the Leidos UK Chief Solution Architect you will provide technical leadership and Solution Architecture services into the Leidos UK Office of technology. The role covers five key areas:

    • Provide solution oversight and assurance for all major captures.
    • Act as solution architect lead for all Internal research and development (IRAD) investments providing guidance to Principal Investigators and helping to ensure IRAD is executed in a way it can be quickly adopted by target programmes.
    • Maintain the technical strategy for Leidos in the UK.
    • Lead the development and maintenance of TechRadars; a tool to help select preferred and proven technologies within logically organised categories, promoting reuse and reducing the level of training required.
    • Work with programmes during mobilisation to identify solution elements that are valuable and should be captured and stored in our knowledge repository, LeidoScope, for reuse.

    The successful candidate is expected to have broad knowledge of a large range of technical capabilities and technologies including hardware, software, AI & Data, networks, cloud, IT services and cyber security.

    What will I be doing?

    Work in conjunction with the Business Strategy Director, business development and the Leidos Divisions to develop the technical strategy and roadmap for the UK. This includes understanding the technology landscape, defining the technology principles to be followed and working out the optimal investment plan for the UK to develop the business and establish key client engagements.

    Provide Technical direction and Solution leadership on assigned programmes working in conjunction with programme management and business stakeholders and supporting the IRAD governance process.

    Involvement in Leidos Proposals and bids to undertake technical reviews of the design and bid material to ensure that the design is optimal, is implementable within schedule and budget and follows the UK technical strategy.

    What does Leidos need from me?

    • Experience in defining the appropriate technical strategy and roadmap for medium to large sized mission focussed business. This involves engaging business stakeholders to understand their needs, justifying the strategy to get approvals, communicating it to the business and supporting the assurance of solutions designed to ensure it is followed.
    • In-depth understanding of technology and technical principles, theories, concepts and their application across range of programs.
    • Knowledge and experience of core IT capabilities including Cloud, Infrastructure & Networks, Application including development, Data including database, analytics, AI and ML, ITSM including ITIL, Cyber Security, Automation.
    • Highly skilled at solutioning and designing complex mission critical systems and services which meet customer needs whilst remaining implementable within schedule and budget.
    • Excellent communications skills to engage with executive leadership articulating and justifying investment proposals and to provide technical direction and leadership to the OoT project teams.
    • Excellent written and presentation communication skills.
    • Experience carrying out technical solution reviews for large programmes and bids to ensure their success.

    It would be desirable if you had experience in the Logistics or Defence domains.

    As an IT Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and delivering complex end to end solutions using a multitude of applications and technologies within the supply chain management business domain.

    This role will assure that the solution architecture can meet the key project functional and non-functional requirements identified for the LCST programme. The IT Solution Architect will lead the solution development through all phases of the delivery lifecycle, from requirements capture, high level design, low level design, development into the release and solution sustainment phases.

    You will provide support to the Head of Architect on a variety of design decisions including:

    • Solution evaluation: buy vs. build vs reuse
    • Platform selection
    • Early-phase project estimates
    • Ensuring compliance with all design principles and architecture frameworks
    • Ensuring compliance with technical, security, customer and regulatory standards.
    •  Supporting customer and stakeholder meetings and technical discussions.

    Skills Required:

    • Previous experience as a Solution Architect on large complex customer projects.

    • Experience in bespoke and COTS applications
    • Experience in integration concepts and technologies e.g. SOA, ESBs, EAI, XML, Web Services, MQ

    • Experience in cloud with AWS or similar
    • Experience in working collaboratively within a multi-supplier/vendor environment.
    • Strong consulting, leading and mentoring skills along with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
    • Broad knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of application technologies, platforms, and tools including web-based systems databases, middleware/integration technologies, security, and infrastructure
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or extensive related experience

    Due to continued growth, we have a requirement for Application Support Analysts to join our 24x7 support team. The shift pattern for these roles will be 4 days on and 4 days off covering both day and night shifts (shift uplift on salary will be paid). 

    The Role

    The Application Support Analyst will be based out of our Farnborough offices to provide 24x7 support to bespoke applications. You will be expected to provide an excellent customer experience when supporting newly developed bespoke applications, utilising bespoke management tools to provide first / second line support.

    Strategic:

    • Support the Shift Supervisor in the provision of application support and maintenance services;
    • Support and maintain customer relationships as part of an application support team;
    • Contribute to ensuring the skills within the application support team are kept relevant to changing technologies of which customers take advantage of throughout their service term;
    • Work closely with Line Manager to identify personal development opportunities as part of the Leidos Individual Development Plan (IDP) process;
    • Work closely with Line manager to identify and fulfil annual goals as part of Leidos annual performance review process.

    Operational:

    • Liaise with customers to resolve application support issues;
    • Work with newly built applications on new technology stacks;
    • Create and maintain detailed service support documentation relevant to the customer applications where required;
    • Provide level 1 support for a bespoke customer application
    • Be responsible for critical applications and take Ownership of Incidents and Service Requests raised by the customer;
    • As part of the support team, work within defined SLA’s ensuring customer SLA’s are aligned to and avoiding SLA breaches;
    • Proactively work closely with other support and development teams within Leidos;
    • Identification of continual service improvement initiatives as part of application support team;

    What Does Leidos Need From Me?

    • Understanding of ITIL processes and their importance in a support environment with specific consideration to incident, problem, change and release management;
    • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to listen effectively;
    • Ability to translate technical issues into user friendly language;
    • Exposure to Incident Management toolsets such as Service Now or Remedy would be beneficial;
    • An excellent team player;
    • Quick learner;
    • Strong self-awareness, and a capacity to reflect on own practice and to learn from mistakes;

    It would be great if you had experience in the following;

    • Working knowledge of Linux / Unix
