    Overall Purpose of the Role

    Chartwells are looking for a Nutritionist to join our award-winning team. The role will be covering London and the South East, requiring regular travel between sites. The successful candidate should be a confident user of public transport and road networks.  The nutritionist will engage with key stakeholders and will translate complex nutrition information into simple messages relating to food and health. They should be an expert in nutrition with an interest in food allergies, intolerances, and knowledge of legislation around food and nutrition including the Food Information Regulations and School Food Standards.

    The Nutritionist will have responsibility for the management of medical diet provision which includes:

    • Writing medical diet menus for different allergies, intolerances, and medical conditions
    • Regular communication with parents, schools, catering teams and medical professionals
    • Auditing sites 
    • Training catering teams
    • Reporting any incidents & working with HSE to investigate

    Key Responsibilities

    • Attending sites on a weekly basis 
    • Delivering nutrition education sessions to a wide variety of audiences 
    • Supporting our extensive medical diet procedure throughout the business by: 
    • Creating a wide range of medical diet menus for our pupils with food allergies and intolerances.
    • Ensuing FIR regulations are met by providing up to date allergy information in the form of allergy reports. 
    • Managing day to day parent, pupil and client queries surrounding medical diets. 
    • Manage sensitive pupil allergy information in an organised and auditable manner o Regularly attending parent and client meetings regarding medical diet provision. 
    • Maintaining medical diet information throughout our in-house menu management systems. 
    • Contributing to ingredient, recipe, and menu development. 
    • Deliver medical diet training throughout the business. 
    • Review policies and procedures on medical diets.
    • Working closely with catering managers and area managers to promote a joined-up approach to safely providing medical diet meals. 
    • Delivering food and wellbeing education sessions to a wide variety of audiences in person and through posters, blogs and website posts 
    • Co-write school strategy plans for allergens, education, and sustainability with guidance from central teams alongside nutritionist

    Person Specification

    • Must have an accredited degree (BSc) in Nutrition or other relevant degree
    • Excellent IT and presentation skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication to a range of stakeholders including clients, parents, and pupils
    • Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage a busy inbox and a high volume of workload

    Chef Manager 

    What you'll be doing:

    As part of your role as the chef manager, you will organise and supervise the unit as well as being responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of the unit under your control whilst providing a quality service.


    Successful candidates will have responsibility for the preparation, cooking and service of food to the agreed standards and specifications and to ensure the efficient and economic use is made of all resources, including stock, labour and company assets.


    More about the role:

    • Promote a safety culture across the unit ensuring all Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times e.g. Food Handling, Manual handling, COSHH  
    • Adopt a hands on approach, taking responsibility for the food production covering all service areas.
    • Ensure all equipment and machinery is in safe working order; all faults/repairs are reported using the appropriate reporting procedures at the earliest opportunity
    • Manage the delivery of the food service provision across unit utilising all available resources effectively and efficiently ensuring that all meals are provided to the required quality standards at the specified times to create a consistent customer experience and avoid any service failures or penalties 
    • Proactively develop and continually improve all client and customer relationships
