Estates Officer x2 Location: Belfast Job Type: Temporary Duration of Booking: Expected to last 6 months with possible extension Proposed Start Date: ASAP Pay Rates: Up to £24.23 per hour Umbrella or £21.40 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay) Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm Sector: Healthcare Based: Office / Hospital Main Purpose of Role: The Estates Officer will support the Head of Estates in delivering Building Services (Mechanical & Electrical) operational maintenance across the estate. The role ensures compliance with legislative and regulatory standards and supports the efficient and effective functioning of Estates operations. Key Responsibilities: Manage and monitor maintenance contracts and contractors to maintain a safe, functional estate. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and procurement regulations. Assist in the delivery of minor and major works, planned/reactive maintenance, and refurbishment projects. Support the preparation of business cases, tenders, and quotations within regulatory frameworks. Undertake condition surveys and manage estates-related databases (e.g. CAFM systems). Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality estates and facilities services. Promote energy efficiency and contribute to sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Assist with strategy planning and performance monitoring against KPIs. Essential Criteria: Degree or HND in a relevant discipline (e.g., Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management), or minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a facilities/estates role within the construction industry. Demonstrable experience in at least two of the following: Building, Surveying and Maintenance; Mechanical Engineering Services; Electrical Engineering Services. Contract management experience, strong organisational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines. Full UK driving licence and access to transport. Desirable Criteria: NEBOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification. Prior experience in the public sector or healthcare estate management.
