    Join our award-winning Legal team - Winner of ‘The Lawyer In-House Tech, Media and Entertainment Team of the Year 2025’.We're seeking an experienced Head of Legal to provide maternity cover and lead our legal function across the international company, serving as strategic legal advisor to our C-suite executives and Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the COO/CLO.

    Yoto’s Legal Team

    Our Legal team is at the heart of everything that happens at Yoto; by providing strategic counsel that enables impressive business growth while managing risk across our global presence. As a key business partner, we support Yoto in the mission to help families, providing strategic product counselling, supporting a thriving creative team headquartered in London.
    What you’ll be doing: Lead with strategic legal counsel across our corporate entities, advising senior leadership on governance, risk management and business initiatives that drive growth, including critical board preparation support Manage our lean legal team and operations, support our legal counsel, manage external counsel relationships, and legal budgets to ensure efficient resource allocation and cost-effective services Drive content and IP strategy, leading complex licensing negotiations, content commissioning agreements, and comprehensive IP rights portfolio management Structure complex commercial deals, drafting and negotiating supply agreements, procurement and SaaS contracts, and strategic partnerships supporting our global expansion Ensure regulatory compliance across data privacy (including GDPR, CCPA), consumer protection, marketing regulations, AI governance, anti-bribery, and ESG matters while developing enterprise-wide risk frameworks Working alongside our People team, maintaining compliance with employee incentive schemes, equity plans, and employment law requirements across multiple jurisdictions for our growing global team.

    What you’ll bring:
    Qualified solicitor with at least 8 years UK qualification (or equivalent) including senior in-house legal role, ideally within entertainment, media, technology or IP-heavy sectors
    Tech or scale-up experience the ability to operate with agility in a fast-paced growth environment, understanding of product development cycles, commercial partnerships and managing regulatory challenges with emerging technology regulations.
    Commercial mindset and strategic business partnership - deep understanding of business objectives with ability to provide pragmatic legal solutions that enable growth, demonstrating strong commercial judgement and proven track record as trusted advisor to C-suite executives with ability to translate legal complexities into clear business insights
    Adaptability, resourcefulness and self-sufficiency - thrives in high-growth, dynamic environments with ability to prioritise effectively, make decisions with imperfect information, demonstrate initiative in managing competing priorities, and strong judgement on when to seek external counsel versus handling matters in-house
    Deep IP and content expertise in IP law, content licensing, music licensing, and rights management, with experience negotiating complex creative industry agreements while maintaining commercial focus
    Team leadership and budget management experience managing legal professionals and external counsel relationships, with strong resource allocation skills and ability to build high-performing teams
    Comprehensive compliance knowledge of data protection (GDPR, CCPA essential), consumer protection, marketing regulations, and emerging AI/technology law requirements, with pragmatic approach to implementation Exceptional stakeholder management skills with ability to work effectively across all organisational levels, explaining Experience in children's/family entertainment, EdTech, or consumer technology sectors (nice-to-have) Previous experience in an interim role (nice-to-have).  

    Salary: £120,000 - £130,000 based on experience

    What you’ll be doing:
    Financial Forecasting Support the CFO and Head of Strategic Finance on translating Yoto’s strategy into numbers through linking the KPIs and financials which underpin our business model Be the primary owner of all financial forecast processes, including long range planning, budgeting and in-year re-forecasting Deliver continuous improvements in our forecasting capabilities, leveraging our EPM (Pigment), ERP (Netsuite) and support from our Data team to increase accuracy through better data integrity, systemisation and AI Capital Optimisation Support the CFO and Head of Strategic Finance on optimising our capital allocations and unlocking any external funding requirements to finance them Be the supply-side Finance partner for our S&OP process, using commercial thinking to balance demand vs. supply side risk, maximising Revenue and limiting overstocks Be the beacon for cash planning and working capital optimisation across the business Group Business Partnering Partner our Content, Product and Operations teams on all CAPEX spend to ensure that they’re supported by a healthy ROI and prioritised accordingly for Yoto’s future Partner on all Non-staff Overheads, leveraging Pigment to promote self-service for department leads so that this is more variance management than report generation EPM Ownership Be the business owner for Pigment, building and modelling within the tool to unlock reporting and forecasting improvements across the group.  What you’ll bring:
    A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), preferably in FP&A, Strategic Finance or Commercial Finance
    Experience with longer-term planning and running complex three-statement financial models to support this in either Excel or a financial planning tool
    Excellent communication skills, capable of translating numbers into insights and actions for both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders at varying levels
    A continuous improvement mindset, particularly when it comes to data and how we can leverage tools and AI to unlock automations and more systematic capabilities
    Experience with financial planning tools and developing these to remove manual planning across Finance (Pigment experience a plus, but not necessary)
    Experience within a subscriptions business, understanding the levers to strengthening LTV through better customer experience and retention
    Exposure to managing direct alongside indirect cash flow models.
     

    Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 based on experience
