    Job overview We are looking for highly motived general Radiographers to work in our busy department in York. York is a wonderful city within North Yorkshire, an area renowned for its beaches, National Parks, and history. We are a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff who provide high quality, user-friendly diagnostic radiology service. We are a friendly inclusive team with a great skill mix, which helps us support each other to provide excellent patient centred care. Newly qualified students are encouraged to apply, as are more experienced Radiographers (banding for more experienced staff would be subject to experience and transferrable skills). Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at one of our North Yorkshire sites. Remote interviews will not be available. Main duties of the job As part of the radiology team, you will be required to work flexibly throughout the general department, including Theatres, Fluoroscopy, Dexa, and the Emergency Department. You will be expected to participate in the general out of hours rota, which provides a service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will work across our York satellite sites, such as Selby, Clifton Park Hospital, and the new CDC site at Askham Bar. We are a forward-thinking department that values our staff, and are committed to advanced practice with a number of Radiographers currently undertaking extended roles. As a department we encourage the progression of our Radiographers to develop from a Band 5 (Preceptor) to Band 6 (Specialist), via a supported competency-based run through. Recent qualifications obtained by staff include post graduate certificates in MRI, CT, Forensics and Image Reporting. We have undergone a major new-build project to re-provide its Acute, Urgent & Emergency Medical facilities & we are looking for Specialty Doctors to work with our existing team. Work was completed seven months ago to upgrade of our hospital site in the heart of historic seaside town of Scarborough on the beautiful Yorkshire Coast. The new facility is not a new A&E. It is a multi-functional clinical space that enables the delivery of our innovative Acute Medical Model (AMM); a pioneering new approach to the delivery of urgent and emergency care. AMM combines all of our “front door” services including ED, Resuscitation, Urgent care, Frailty, Same Day Emergency Care and overnight “short stay” into a single holistic, multi-disciplinary footprint. With access to dedicated radiology & a purpose built, flexible working space that covers over 3000sqm, the AMM facility provides a once in a generation opportunity to adopt & promote a ‘working without walls’ across all major specialties. Not only that, our new unit also contains a state of the art Critical Care & Medical Level 1 space on the floor above & this, along with other major site improvements already underway, will transform acute care on the Yorkshire coast. We serve the local population as well as the high numbers of holiday makers that flock to the east coast year after year. Main duties of the job As a senior level doctor within the AMU team postholders will be expected to be the responsible acute physician in charge on-site within working hours dealing with acutely unwell patients, supervising and supporting junior staff and advanced clinical practitioners, and helping to coordinate the flow of patients in the department (with the support of the Acute medical consultant). The rota is compliant with the new Specialty Doctor contract and offers a minimum of 1.25 PA per week of protected core SPA time some of which is worked flexibly.
