A little more about your role… We have an opportunity for a Principal or Senior Transport Planner to join our Mobility Planning Team. There is flexibility around the location of this role, with potential WSP home offices being our Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester or Newcastle offices. WSP's hybrid working policy will allow for a mix of in-office and home working. In this role you will work alongside colleagues across the UK in the delivery of transport, traffic and related infrastructure projects, including major Development Consent Orders projects in the Energy and Industrial sectors across the UK. This is a varied role but responsibilities will include: Undertaking Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Environmental Statement Transport Chapters, and Travel Plans, including playing a hands-on role in Client and Local Authority scoping discussions. Lead technical discussions around accessibility of project / construction sites for a wide range of modes and articulate the impacts and mitigations required to support planning approvals. Work in a multi-disciplinary environment and take a proactive approach in working with adjacent disciplines, such as noise and air quality, ecology, and highway teams Take ownership of delegated tasks such as the preparation of fee estimates and proposals for review by Project Directors Be flexible and upskill your knowledge to enable you to work across other transport workstreams such as comms and engagement, to support a sustainable and balanced workflow for the local team.  Work in a collaborative client/consultant environment and representing our values when delivering the work for our clients Keep up-to-date with relevant standards and policies; raise WSP profile by networking, and attending conferences. A little more about your role… We are seeking to recruit a Principal or Associate Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning team in our Basingstoke office. This is a varied role that will see you work across an extensive portfolio of multi-disciplinary and cross sector projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Projects include: active travel solutions, transport strategies, and Government funding applications, master planning, access support and development planning.  Some typical responsibilities within this role will include include: Supporting senior colleagues within the Mobility Business to further develop and expand our work with clients across the UK.  Support in the management of the Basingstoke team, both technically and pastorally. Responsibility for attending resourcing meetings, securing team workload and maintaining utilisation expectations. Leading and/or managing a broad range of transport planning projects, with responsibility for project team management and collaboration, budgeting, programming and technical excellence. Making an active contribution to four key pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Technical Excellence) and supporting the Pillar Leads in these roles. Leading and supporting in the preparation of bids, fee proposals and project programmes. Attending and presenting at internal and external technical knowledge sharing events. Supervising junior colleagues in undertaking technical tasks and coaching them in acquiring new skills. These projects are not locked to the Basingstoke locality with support offered all across the south, Wales and internationally whilst working closely with our planning, infrastructure design, structures and environmental teams. Our local and regional pipeline of work is extensive, and the successful applicant will help us to deliver a challenging and exciting pipeline of work for a range of regional clients including Local Authorities and private companies across a range of sectors. We are seeking to recruit a Consultant or Assistant Consultant to join the Business Case Advisory team within our Mobility Planning division. The team is virtual, although it is desirable that you would be able to spend time in an office in which we have a Business Case Advisory team presence (Cambridge, Exeter or London).  We undertake a wide variety of consultancy work and work closely with colleagues across the UK and India.
