The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Building Regulations Principal Designer role under the Building Safety Act, working closely with clients, design teams, contractors and wider project stakeholders to ensure building regulations compliance is considered, coordinated and managed throughout the design and construction process. The Role As Building Regulations Principal Designer, you will be involved in: Delivering Building Regulations Principal Designer duties across a range of construction projects. Supporting clients in understanding their duties under the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations. Reviewing design information for compliance with relevant Building Regulations requirements. Working closely with architects, designers, consultants, contractors and clients to coordinate building regulations compliance. Attending design team meetings and providing technical advice throughout the design and construction stages. Supporting the development and review of design risk and compliance trackers. Reviewing drawings, specifications and project information to identify potential compliance gaps. Liaising with Building Control, Registered Building Inspectors and other project stakeholders where required. Helping project teams prepare, manage and maintain the golden thread of information. Supporting the preparation of Gateway submissions where applicable. Providing practical advice to ensure compliance is considered early and embedded throughout the project lifecycle. Supporting the continued growth and development of the Building Regulations Principal Designer service. About You Our client is open-minded on background and is more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, communication style and desire to develop. You may already be working as a Building Regulations Principal Designer, Building Control Surveyor, Approved Inspector, Architect, Architectural Technologist, Design Manager, CDM Principal Designer or construction professional with strong technical knowledge of Building Regulations. Ideally, you will have: A good understanding of Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act. Experience reviewing design information, drawings or technical documentation. A background within Building Control, architecture, design management, technical coordination. Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with clients, designers and project teams. A proactive, organised and practical approach to compliance. The ability to identify potential compliance risks and provide clear, sensible advice. Full UK driving licence. Membership of a relevant professional body would be beneficial, although not essential e.g RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT etc. Why Apply? Demonstrable experience working on Higher-Risk Buildings and an understanding of the Building Safety Regulator Gateway process.
