You will either hold a NVQ3 / Diploma 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or be willing to work to achieve this qualification following appointment. We offer excellent induction, supervision, for all staff who work in our service. Our staff work a variety of shift patterns, including morning and evenings as well as weekends, waking nights and bank holidays.  The service supports and cares for children and young people between the ages of five to seventeen and offer a variety of opportunities to all children, promoting their development within a caring understanding and supportive environment. We work closely with parent / carers and their families in achieving the best outcomes for children. We believe that it is important for all children and young people to participate or to be supported to participate, in a wide range of activities, in order to maximise their individual opportunities for personal growth and to have fun. The role is to work across the district for services for children with disabilities for both Short Breaks and Residential. We are very proud of our services and would like to employ people who want to make a difference.

The post holder will lead frontline teams to deliver a high quality citizen focused outward facing services within the Wakefield district. The postholder as part of their role will :- Manage the day-to-day operations of our frontline services i.e., Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing. Be self-motivated and remain focused in pressure situations. Be an effective communicator across a broad scope of stakeholders i.e., Workforce, Managers, General Public, Customers, Elected Members. Create operational reports relevant to the area of responsibility. Will display resilient characteristics and be able to motivate other team members and colleagues. What I might be doing? The post will support the Management Team to provide frontline operational services for the citizens of Wakefield district. The postholder will work with and support the Management Team to ensure the effective delivery of services and good working relationships across the service. The management of teams to ensure that allocated resources are efficiently deployed to deliver the objectives in line with requirement of the Service Business Plan and the Council’s strategic priorities. The post holder has line management responsibility for up to 59 front line staff. To work closely with other Officers and Managers in determining the operational priorities of our services. Ensure operational delivery of services are in line with service level agreements, service standards and meet the expectations of service recipients. Essential requirements: NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in supervisory management. 4 GCSE passes (grade A – C) including English and Maths. Full current driving licence maximum 6 penalty points.     We are looking for a skilled and driven individual to support the delivery of our vibrant and ambitious exhibitions and displays programme at Wakefield Museums and Castles.

    Working within the Curatorial and Exhibitions team, and alongside colleagues in the wider Museums and Castles team, you will help to design, build, install and maintain exhibitions and displays across our three museums, two historic castles, and in community venues.

    You will help to produce exhibitions that are high quality, interactive, multisensory, accessible and inclusive.

    You will work with specialist tools and equipment in our Museum Workshop to build bespoke exhibitions, using a variety of skills and materials, particularly carpentry and woodworking.

    You will help to ensure our exhibitions are sustainable and use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible, contributing to our Wakefield Museums and Castles Environmental Action Plan.

    You will work within our committed, supportive and highly skilled team, as well as alongside our diverse and passionate local communities to celebrate and share the stories and objects that make the Wakefield district unique.
