Stores/Yard AssistantStockport | Monday - Friday | £13.26Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday 7am - 3pm, Friday 7am-2:30pm This role is offered on a full-time basis under an initial six-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position for the successful candidate.The Role & Client:VTA Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Stores/Yard Assistant to join our clients team in Stockport, Chestergate (With plans to relocate to Adswood later in the year). They are Stockport based facilities management and service providers delivering a wide range of services to both public and private sector organisations across Stockport and Greater Manchester. Your role would be to support the Stores Manager in the effective operation of the Stores function, ensuring accurate inventory control, timely availability of materials, and compliance with company procedures, health & safety, and legal requirements.Key Responsibilities:
Support the Stores Manager in all aspects of Stores operations and deputise in their absence.Manage and maintain accurate inventory records, including stock levels, locations, and movements.Oversee goods inward and outward processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.Ensure materials are available when required and chase late or missing deliveries.Carry out stock checks, cycle counts, and annual stock takes, providing reports as required.Monitor stock usage, identify slow-moving or obsolete items, and support inventory reduction initiatives.Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the stock management / ERP system.Raise purchase orders, receipt goods, and manage returned or warranty items.Ensure health, safety, COSHH, hazardous waste disposal, and transport regulations are met.Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and external customers as required.
Requirements:
Experience in a Stores, Warehouse, Inventory, or Supply Chain role.Good understanding of inventory control, stock management, and MRP / ERP systems.Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.Good verbal and written communication skills in a customer focused environment.Ability to work flexibly across sites when required.Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to continuous improvement.Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and safe handling of materials.Driving Licence and own vehicle is preferred.
