This is an independent, building services design consultancy, specialising in mechanical, engineering, lighting and public health They are looking for the right person to join their creative team of engineers, designers and technical specialists, providing innovative solutions to complex engineering and potential design challenges within buildings.As the successful engineer, you will be responsible for taking the lead in the overall preparation and submission of projects, including Low Voltage Distribution, Small Power, Communications, Lighting, Fire Alarm Systems, Intruder Alarm, Access Control and Lighting Protection. Design: - Concept design. - Option evaluation. - Prepare stage reports / outline designs. - Brainstorm design solutions. - Detail design. - Maintain comprehensive design file. - Produce CAD drawings. - Produce scheme design drawings for CAD. - Produce design sketches. - Invite suppliers expert knowledge and costs. - Adopt flexible attitude to project and design. Client Management: - Client management. - Taking the lead on all communications with Clients. - Advising on fees and preparing fee proposals. - Interpreting project requirements. - Promote can do attitude. Design Team Management: - Communicating with design team members. - Prepare written reports for DTMs, etc. - Convene technical domestic meetings with team. - Provide assistance to all team. Project Strategy: - Prepare project plan at outset. - Prepare project programme for design/pre-construction - Allocate resources for project. - Produce design stage reports as appropriate. Financial Management: - Produce cost plans and pre-tender estimates. - Produce cost comparisons for systems/plant. - Understand project costs and M&E ratios. - Demonstrate our interest in financial matters. - Evaluate/Report on Tender Returns Sub-Contractor and Site Management: - Fully brief Sub-Contractors. - Adopt non-adversarial management approach, firm and fair. - Monitor and report progress. - Raise instructions. - Assist problem solving process. - Respond to RFIs, queries quickly. - Control project finance and variation costs with PQS. - Confirm all site matters. - Respond to any changes quickly Marketing: - Provide excellent customer service for repeat orders. - Attend client interviews. - Produce sketch designs for proposals. - Understand our product, clients needs, wants and objectives. Continuous Improvement: - Assist to develop continuous improvement culture. - Provide ideas for continuous improvement of business. - Attend CPD. - Attain management training.     Status: Confidential Appointment The Opportunity An established main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major £32m care home development in Bath. The scheme includes: Full demolition works Part new build construction Extension to existing structures Refurbishment and conversion of retained buildings The project has now entered the demolition phase and will progress into a full two-year construction programme. This represents a high-profile, technically complex scheme requiring strong leadership from pre-construction through to final handover. This appointment is being handled on a strictly confidential basis. Role Overview Reporting to the Contracts Director / Operations Director, the Project Manager will have full responsibility for the successful delivery of the scheme, including programme, cost, quality, safety, and client liaison. You will act as the central point of coordination between the client team, consultants, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.
