(3 days on site required, 2 days flexible).Vantage is looking for a mid-level Data Infrastructure and Systems Specialist to support business operations utility billing team by managing projects, own the end-to-end integrity, automation, and scalability of our energy metering and billing data ecosystem. This role bridges automation scripting, database administration, cross-functional collaboration, and billing operations, ensuring accurate ingestion, processing, and delivery of physical meter data from Building Management Systems (BMS) into internal Postgres and MSSQL databases. You will design scalable data models, automate critical workflows, support monthly billing cycles, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational efficiency, compliance, lead cross-functional design and onboarding of new builds to ensure operability, maintainability, billability, and efficiency, build scalable data models and automate processes.Essential Job Functions:Design and implement tables, views, stored procedures, and functions to support reporting tools and downstream applicationsOwn schema evolution for internal SQL databases.Write, maintain, and version-control comprehensive database documentation (CoreDB, configurations, and changes).Perform user access management on database servers as directed.Develop and maintain backend services in Python, Golang, and Java to support billing operations, sustainability tracking, and global software development (GSD) initiatives.Build and optimize internal automation tools using Bash and Python to streamline billing workflows, data reconciliation, and manual task reduction.Manage GitHub-hosted tools and automations with Azure Data Lake integration, leveraging CI/CD for repeatability and scalability.Monitor and maintain end-to-end data pipelines from Ignition to Postgres and MSSQL databases.Perform data validation, interpolation, and reconciliation of meter readings; automate corruption/missing data handling.Support monthly billing cycles, including statement generation, accuracy verification, and timely invoicing.Lead new building onboarding through configuration uploads, database provisioning, and data validation.Act as the primary point of contact for sample bill verification and data-related inquiries.Oversee commissioning and customer build-out to enable compliant billing and reporting.Review and approve critical tickets, changes, releases, and processes (including meter anomaly detection) to ensure accuracy and standards compliance.Troubleshoot meter data discrepancies, conduct root-cause analysis across systems (Site → BMS → Acquisition → Databases), and implement corrective actions.Partner with Application Support (AS) and Development teams to enhance data correction workflows and operational efficiency.Collaborate with Digital Products team on process automation, programming fixes, and system improvements.Handle ad hoc data requests from management and cross-functional teams to meet business and customer needs.Duties:Database Development: Create and maintain database objects (tables, views, procedures, functions); manage schema changes via Liquibase CI/CD.Documentation & Access: Update CoreDB and config documentation; manage user access per DBA requests/guidelines.Automation & Scripting: Develop backend services using Python/Golang/Java services and create Bash/Python scripts for billing automation, statement generation, and scheduled jobs.Pipeline Oversight: Monitor ingestion from BMS/Ignition into Postgres/MSSQL; validate end-to-end data flow and configuration uploads.Data Quality & Reconciliation: Interpolate missing data, resolve discrepancies, perform root-cause analysis, and automate error handling.Billing Support: Generate/review monthly statements, verify billing accuracy, support invoicing and sample bill validation.Onboarding & Commissioning: Configure new buildings, create databases, validate data, oversee customer build-out for billing readiness.Data Analysis Quality Assurance: Review meter anomalies and work with the responsible parties resolving them; conduct data backups for audits.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with AS, Dev, and Digital Products teams; resolve metering issues using Ignition and related tools.Ad Hoc Support: Fulfill management and team data requests; troubleshoot urgent metering or pipeline issues.
