    About the role The new MPharm program, at the University of Leicester, is located in a School of Healthcare, alongside Schools of Medicine, Biology and Psychology. With extensive local expertise in placement delivery, blended learning, inter professional education and clinical assessment, the new pharmacy degree is designed to have patient care and the application of relevant science in clinical practice at its heart. The vision is to create excellent clinical pharmacists whose practice is person centered and who are able to effectively use their scientific and clinical knowledge to solve real life and current problems as part of the routine provision of pharmaceutical care. Our graduates will be able to complete their prescribing sign off in the Foundation Year successfully and work effectively as members of the multi-disciplinary team when they register. Teaching will be predominantly interactive and patient focused. An ability to understand how clinical, professional and scientific knowledge translates into pharmacy practice will be essential for all appointments. Integrated placements will form a major part of the degree program and consequently all appointments will be expected to work effectively with employers and external stakeholders. To deliver this, the school provides a welcoming and caring environment. All staff are given the opportunity to identify a suitable mentor, undertake yearly personal development planning with their line manager and encouraged to actively seek learning opportunities to enhance effectiveness in role. Funding to attend external events and for CPD activities is available for all staff. Applicants for this role will be supported to maintain their clinical practice In your role, you will support the set up and delivery of the new MPharm Degree within the School of Healthcare at the University of Leicester. This role will be largely responsible for the development of the clinical pharmacy and professional practice elements of the degree. The individual will work with the Head of School (Professor David Wright) and Program Lead (Associate Professor Sue Ambler), to develop and deliver MPharm accreditation documentation and associated teaching materials. The post holder will be responsible for leading the development of the clinical and professional elements of the degree and whilst they will largely work autonomously, they will be part of a conscientious and hardworking pharmacy team and consequently will be required to demonstrate the same qualities. About you We are looking for a registered pharmacist, who couples clinical expertise with significant experience of managing and delivering healthcare professional teaching and assessment. You will be a creative educator, who demonstrates a strong commitment to student welfare, both on and off campus, and proactively looks for opportunities to innovate and enhance the student experience. You should be able to demonstrate how clinical, professional and scientific knowledge is taught, learned and assessed across the four years so as to develop safe and effective pharmacy practice, including the core skills and behaviours needed for prescribing. Experience within higher education institutions or a formal teaching qualification would be beneficial, but are not essential. You will be joining a small, high-performing team, working to tight deadlines to develop and deliver a new degree programme.     About the role The Diabetes Research Centre and NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre are looking to recruit a talented, motivated individual with expertise in using wearable technology to measure 24-hour lifestyle behaviours to join an established, successful research team and contribute to a programme of work investigating the role of lifestyle behaviours, alone or in combination with other clinical management strategies (e.g. pharmacotherapy, physical activity, bariatric/metabolic surgery) in promoting whole-body health in diverse populations with or at risk of chronic cardiometabolic conditions (e.g. obesity, type 2 diabetes etc.). The appointed individual will join the Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group, as part of the Lifestyle Theme of the prestigious NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). Working closely with senior academics, they will work across a variety of projects, many in a lead capacity, to advance their independent research career. This will include performing data processing and statistical analysis, drafting outputs for dissemination, and contributing to protocol design and funding applications for future research. They will also work across our portfolio of trials, taking a lead in overseeing those involving device-measured 24-hour lifestyle behaviours (e.g. sleep, sedentary behaviour, physical activity and exercise). In particular, they will play a lead role in coordinating the set-up and data collection within research trials using accelerometers (locally and at external sites where appropriate), either independently or through supervision/guidance of other staff or students. They will be based at the Leicester Diabetes Centre (Leicester General Hospital), which is internationally recognised for its research in diabetes, obesity, and lifestyle behaviours, including within the most recent results of the Research Excellence Framework (2021), where University of Leicester was ranked 2nd in both Sports Science and Clinical Medicine (out of 31 and 61 institutions respectively ().The Leicester Diabetes Centre also hosts the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East Midlands, the NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre: Leicester, and the Centre for Ethnic Health Research. The roles involve substantial collaboration with NGOs, community groups and policy stakeholders in the case study countries. About you We are looking for candidates with a PhD (or near completion) in Anthropology, Sociology, Migration Studies, Human Geography, Middle East/African Studies or a closely related field; strong experience in ethnographic and qualitative research with LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum and/or refugee communities; and experience of working with civil society and community-based organisations.     You will Supervise activities such as, student swimming lessons, children's swim and general swimming. You will also be responsible for opening facilities, monitoring and recording Health and Safety (H&S) and other information (including pool and spa water tests), providing first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in danger or distress and administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or artificial respiration if necessary, engaging in cleaning duties, promoting and demonstrating excellent customer service, closing down facilities at night. About you To be considered for this role, you will require a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and experience of working within a customer service environment.

    It would be advantageous if you had previous experience working within a recreational/leisure environment and have a good knowledge of Health and Safety policy and procedures. This role would be suited to an individual who has an enthusiasm and knowledge of the sporting world and fitness. UKMAT is funded by the British Heart Foundation and National Health and Medical Research Council (Australia). It is a randomised controlled trial of metformin in people with small abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). The aim is to determine if metformin, a drug commonly use to treat diabetes, can slow the progression of AAA and prevent the need for high risk surgery which is currently the only other treatment option for this condition.” About you You will hold a degree in a relevant biomedical science or have equivalent experience, alongside a strong background in clinical trial management, coordination or monitoring.
