You can find more information about the department at the following link: Duties of the Role The successful candidate will play a key role in helping prospective students discover and connect with the University. As part of the UK Recruitment team, they will support a wide range of activities across schools’ engagement, conversion, and major on-campus events such as Open Days and Insight Days. This includes representing the University at higher education exhibitions across the UK and delivering engaging presentations and workshops. The Student Recruitment and Marketing Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the logistics of recruitment activity, such as organising on-campus school visits and managing enquiries from key stakeholders. The role involves regular UK travel, as well as some evening and weekend work. For this reason, the post‑holder must hold a full UK‑valid driving licence. Previous applicants need not apply. Skills and qualifications required We are seeking a recent graduate of the University of Essex, having completed studies in the last 3 years, thus holding an honours degree, as well as an interest in and knowledge of the higher education sector. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in public speaking. They will be motivated and proactive, with an ability to work flexibly on their own initiative and meet deadlines. This role requires both team and independent working, and therefore the successful candidate will demonstrate autonomy, strong organisation and interpersonal skills.     The School of Health and Social seeks to appoint a part-time Senior Research Officer. This NIHR supported Brain Injury Social Care Network coordinator role is to support the coordination of research strategy development and grant writing retreats, providing desk research in topics pertaining to brain injury social care. The incubator has a broad remit to develop research that engages with significant heath inequalities, and with marginalised groups such as survivors with experience of homelessness, justice system, drug and alcohol misuse, intimate partner violence, refugee and asylum seekers.

    Tasks will involve coordinating social care, charity and academic partners to build their research strategy, and design research studies in these under-researched areas. Working with our project partners the post holder will manage the delivery of the contract with NIHR, promote the incubator, create and maintain the incubator website, manage a database and track outputs, and attend NIHR coordination events. Alongside the project team we will work toward an ambition to maintain the network beyond the current funding and create a legacy of helpful resources for our charity partners.     With a relevant doctoral level degree in health and social care or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD, you will be familiar with supporting research grant applications and aware of relevant NIHR funding streams and infrastructure that can help the incubator clients. You will have in an interest in the intersection of brain injury and social care and have demonstrated a strategic approach to project management. This is a fixed-term post until 30 June 2028. The posts are based in the Unconventional Communications and Computing Laboratory (UC2), led by Dr Michael T. Barros. The appointments are part of BRAINET (Networked Distributed Neural Interfaces for Interference-Based Brain Stimulation), an MSCA Doctoral Network. Duties of the Role You will register for a PhD at the University of Essex and undertake doctoral research aligned to one of two Essex-hosted BRAINET projects. DC4 develops multiphysical communications for networked power and information transfer (magnetoelectric, NFC, ionic media and optics), characterising biophysical limitations of the human head and designing an optimised system under those constraints. DC5 develops a multimodal communication system for subdural brain implants enabling networking, including efficient signal processing and data compression methods, and evaluation of safety, reliability and long-term viability. You will contribute to project deliverables, produce publishable outcomes, and participate in BRAINET training and consortium activities. Planned secondments depend on project assignment: DC4 includes Aalborg University (3 months) and INRIA (3 months); DC5 includes INRIA (3 months) and G.TEC (3 months).
