About the College/Department The University of Derby Estates Department is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant, innovative, and sustainable campus environment, that supports our passion for delivering world class education and ground-breaking research. The Estates team has over 250 colleagues, working across all of our sites on everything from the refurbishment of buildings to catering. About the Role This is a highly technical position within the University’s Electrical Team, which is responsible for compliance, reactive and planned maintenance, as well as small project work. You will be responsible for the most complex electrical works and projects, and will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Estates Direct Labour Organisation (DLO), including the Engineering Department, as well as contractors, suppliers, and other University departments. You will play a key role in supporting the Mechanical and Electrical Senior Supervisor to drive standardisation and achieve optimal energy efficiency across plant equipment within the University’s portfolio. Upon completion of your probation period, you will be required to take part in the On-call Rota The work pattern for this role will be 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility required at times to ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained, for example during the winter months when the gritting of pathways is essential. The anticipated interview date will be in January 2026.
    About You We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical professional to join our team. You will hold a clean, current driving licence and possess recognised industry qualifications, including City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 and Level 3 in Electrical Installations (or equivalent), as well as City & Guilds th Edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working within a multi-disciplinary environment and across large estates, delivering maintenance services in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Strong technical knowledge of statutory legislation governing facilities maintenance and electrical systems is essential. You will be IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and demonstrate the ability to manage operational activity effectively while ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.
