About the role In your role as Compliance Advisory you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to assist with a range of compliance matters, including managing compliance systems, assisting with Compliance MI, and both Public Markets and Private Markets advisory. You will administer compliance owned policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. What you will be doing As a trusted part of the Group General Counsel team you will be responsible for: Working principally with the Deputy Head of Group Compliance, Head of Public Markets Compliance Advisory, and other members of the Compliance Team - as required. Tracking applicable regulatory change, industry developments (for example best practices from trade associations) and apply and roll these out within USSIM as is relevant at the direction of the Group Head of Compliance. Tracking regulatory horizon developments in the UK as they relate to financial crime. Completing the annual USS Group (USSL, USSIM, FCA registered SPVs) Financial Crime Risk Assessments. Preparing the USSIM MLRO Report. Leading Compliance input to responses to external KYC requests. Leading on Compliance review and approval of corporate communications and member collateral. Leading on the submission of regulatory filings. Maintaining records relating to the Senior Management and Certification Regime. Assisting with updating and drafting policies, procedures and the USSIM Compliance Manual. Assisting with the provision of ad-hoc advice to the Public and Private Markets Groups. Assisting with the delivery of new joiner Compliance training. Representing Compliance as required on projects undertaken by the business, advising as appropriate on implications of regulatory change on business processes. Supporting ongoing surveillance of the activities of the Public Markets Group in relation to key regulatory processes, including MAR surveillance, best execution, allocations, sanctions lists, shareholding disclosures and filings, position limits, exceptions reporting, and maintenance of IT systems to manage these.     To be successful in the role you will have: Thorough knowledge of the UK regulatory framework, including the UK’s measures to combat financial crime. Demonstrable experience of dealing with the regulatory change agenda in the asset management sector. Familiarity with public market asset classes; including equity, credit, fixed income, derivatives and alternative investments.  Familiarity with policy writing. Excellent working knowledge of FCA rules and industry best practice relating to: FCA Conduct of Business rules, including the rules around dealing and managing and investment advice. About the role In your role as Senior ALM Risk Associate you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to support and build on the capability within the Scheme Risk Oversight & ALM function associated with all ALM related activity. More specifically this relates to areas of analysis, advice and support pertaining to the triennial valuation process, stochastic analytics and liability cash flow dynamics.

    This role is intended to assist in the alignment of the asset strategy and portfolio construction with the overarching and long-term liability dynamics on the DB side, and to assist in the development of the Glidepath and life-styling options associated with the DC side.

    The role will also ensure the bridge between the Funding Strategy and Financial Risk teams with USSIM is maintained and developed, as well as working with the wider Financial Risk function to develop the second-line risk framework. What you will be doing As a trusted part of the Financial Risk team, you will: Work with the Scheme Risk Oversight & ALM and the Head of Financial Risk to embed stochastic ALM analytics into the first and second line risk frameworks across DB and DC. Provide subject matter expertise as regards the integration of the liabilities into the risk management process. Support USSIM with the ongoing development of the DC Glidepath, life-style options and potential future post-retirement offering. Support the Head of Financial Risk and Funding Strategy teams in the scheme triennial valuation process. Support the USSIM Head of Investment Advice and ISA functions in the provision of risk analytics to support the portfolio construction process and strategic investment advice (provided by USSIM). Remain abreast of investment market and pension related developments and actively incorporates knowledge in the development of strategic initiatives. Support the preparation of committee papers for the relevant boards, coordinating and liaising with Head of Financial Risk on content and other requirements. Continue to improve the consistency of market data used for analytics within the team. Be responsible for asset inventory and model compliance for the stochastic ALM system. This role will provide a great opportunity to make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.   It presents an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the Scheme’s ambitious Responsible Investment (RI) strategy, which reinforces its position as a Universal Owner.   The revised RI strategy sets a clear direction for the Scheme to demonstrate visible leadership in responsible investment across the UK and to be recognised as a global leader among asset owners.   A core part of this ambition is driving effective policy advocacy on key RI issues. Your work will directly enhance the Scheme’s ability to influence public policy and regulatory developments, contributing to better financial long-term outcomes for members.  If you're passionate about responsible investment and looking to have an influence through strategic policy engagement, this role offers an excellent platform. What you will be doing As a trusted part of the Responsible Investment you will: Track UK and global policy developments on responsible investment, analyse political context, and brief the team. Draft clear internal and external content — policy briefings, blogs, articles and reports — and lead their circulation. Build and maintain relationships with government, regulators and industry groups; represent USS in relevant forums. Recommend advocacy positions and engagement plans for senior leaders and investment teams. Coordinate and draft USS responses to consultations ( Stewardship Code, listing rules, TNFD, transition plans).     To be successful in the role you will have: Deep understanding of UK and global responsible investment (RI) policy and trends. Degree in politics, economics, climate, or related field. Hands-on RI policy experience from finance, think tanks, or policy making. Strong stakeholder management and external relationship-building skills. Knowledge of sustainable finance and climate transition impacts on the sector. Expertise in climate, nature, people, and governance topics.
