    Toshiba Europe Limited has pioneered the development of quantum communication systems over the past decade, setting new standards for cryptography and data security. We are currently seeking a Component Engineer to support the Engineering Team to develop next generation secure communication products at Toshiba’s Quantum Technology Centre in Cambridge, UK.In this role, you will support the Engineering Team in their work on electronic and mechanical designs that lie at the heart of our quantum products. You will join a dynamic organisation at the forefront of the quantum industry, with the opportunity to play a major role in the development of quantum networking technology. Responsibilities:Supporting the Engineering Team to gather compliance information for components.Supporting the Engineering Team to find alternative sources for components, manage component obsolescence, and update BoMs. Supporting the Engineering Team with ordering components and maintaining inventories. Selecting, vetting, and cataloguing components for use in our designs. Maintaining the master part file and CAD libraries. Creating and managing high quality documentation and records.Driving continuous improvement on existing products, including capturing accurate and detailed documentationProviding mentorship to staff and contractors, according to business needsDelivering projects to schedule, including the management of the budgets for specific projects
    Essential:A background in electronics and mechanical design. Demonstrable experience of supporting and maintaining electronic and mechanical designs. Appreciation of components and suppliers.     The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for supporting the engineering teams during the planning, design, development, construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and post warranty services of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) & Photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role also covers Application Engineering responsibilities, involving hands-on technical work, customer support, and project management to ensure the optimal performance of renewable energy systems.
    Role AccountabilitiesPost Commissioning Operations (Work for the site under Operation)Analyse, investigate, and implement corrective actions at sites in EMEA based on troubleshooting results.Execute corrective actions at sites under the guidance of engineers from outside the EU, such as those in Japan or India.Manage and coordinate scheduled periodic maintenance, including the necessary documentation for internal use and clients.Coordinate with local service partners to ensure personnel are on-site when needed and support their activities.Facilitate communication and coordination among stakeholders (clients, vendors, local service partners, etc.) for troubleshooting and maintenance activities.Negotiate and coordinate with vendors when problems arise and prepare work schedules.Coordinate the logistics to ensure materials, welfare facilities (e.g., portable toilets), and spare parts available on-site as required.Perform remote monitoring and data collection at operational sites.Be available “on call” in case an emergency arises.Summarise troubleshooting activities, document the results, and report to the client in a timely manner.Project CommissioningBe present at the site during commissioning of the system.Coordinate, manage, and monitor the site activities performed by various suppliers, local service partners, the primary EPC contractor, and the Balance of Plant (BoP) supplier during and prior to the commissioning of the battery energy storage system.Organise logistics to ensure materials and spare parts available at site as needed.Application Engineering support (During periods when Post Commissioning Operations or Project Commissioning are not occurring)Support system design and evaluation of BESS or related renewable projects in collaboration with local engineers and engineers outside of UK.Engage in discussions with clients and vendors, including direct communication at overseas offices, factories, sites, etc., on technical matters.Assist in BESS design in collaboration with local engineers and engineers outside of UK.Support negotiations on technical and cost matters with vendors.General Employee AccountabilitiesBring full effort to complete tasks assigned by manager.Give manager best advice.Give earliest notice when work cannot be delivered as specified.Cooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organisationally as specified by manager.Exemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal CommitmentComply with all Company policies, practices, and procedures and all regulations and laws.Formulate recommendations for improvement proactively.Ensure effective utilisation of business tools and processesMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.Minimum 3 years’ experience in commissioning and/or servicing of electrical equipment of more than DC 1000V.Understanding of BESS projects from the development stage through to post-warranty service.Proven ability to read and understand electrical system drawings and documents.Demonstrated ability to handle electrical equipment and adhere to safety requirements.Proven capability in managing large volumes of data, analysing systems and implementing corrective actions based on troubleshooting results.Demonstrated experience in parts replacement work on-site for inverters and control systems, including safety considerations.Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and guidelines, with relevant certifications and training.Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and an ERP systems.Frequent travel to customer sites is required, often needing adaptability to various environments and schedules.Availability to travel in the UK and EMEA regions.Must hold a valid driver’s license for driving in the UK and EU.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.Experience in testing and commissioning of control and relay systems for substations.Technical engineering experience in Wind, Solar, Energy Plants.Technical engineering experience in other power plants such as Waste-to-Energy (WTE) and Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants.
