    We\\\'re seeking an enthusiastic Education Coordinator to help shape the future of chemistry education.

    With a focus on Northern Ireland, you\\\'ll lead regional initiatives, tailoring them to local needs and supporting teachers through workshops and online sessions. You\\\'ll build strong partnerships with local education authorities, schools, and teacher networks, and collaborate with national organisations to advance our education policy across the UK and Ireland. You’ll monitor educational developments, contribute to policy-influencing documents, and share our views with policy makers and other stakeholders.

    This role will require extensive travel throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, including attending and running events for teachers and student teachers, working with members, and meeting key education contacts. Expect to travel about twice a week, depending on the academic timetable, and occasionally work weekends and non-core hours.

    Responsibilities:

    Regional engagement and delivery: Lead the project management and delivery of education initiatives tailored to the needs of the local education community, aligned with our strategy. This includes understanding teacher needs, delivering direct support (e.g, workshops, online sessions), advising on the use of our resources, and commissioning internal support to enhance the impact of our services.

    Local curriculum expertise and relevance: Champion and advise on local curricula to ensure our education programmes remain relevant and impactful for all teachers across the UK and Ireland. This includes providing guidance and advice to colleagues and partners on best practices for local curricula.

    Partnership and stakeholder engagement:

    • Develop and maintain successful partnerships and relationships with organisations and education stakeholders in the region (including local education authorities, schools, and teacher networks) to support the effective delivery of our programmes and initiatives. This also includes engaging with local members to act as advocates for chemistry and showcase best practice in school engagement activities.

    • Build and maintain strategic links and collaborations with national organisations, government agencies, sister societies, and other policy influencers to inform the development and advancement of our education policy and resources.

    Contribution to education policy and intelligence: Contribute to our education policy activities by monitoring educational developments, compiling and analysing relevant information, and drafting policy-influencing documents such as consultation responses and position statements. This also involves representing our policy positions and building collaborative relationships with relevant external organisations to enhance our influence.

    What we are looking for:

    • A degree in science, preferably in the chemical sciences, or an equivalent qualification, together with evidence of working with schools, ideally with a teaching qualification.

    • An understanding of school level, further and higher education and a breadth of knowledge of the education systems in the UK and Ireland together with a deep knowledge of the local curricula.

    • Experience of stakeholder relationship management and an understanding of customer requirements, including those of: school teachers; FE teachers, HE academics and support staff; careers advisors; employers; governments and its agencies, and non-government bodies.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to write effectively for different audiences and deliver clear and engaging presentations both online and in-person.

    • Good project management and team working skills and experience, with the ability to work independently.

    We are currently looking for a Registration Standards Specialist to join our Accreditation and Careers team. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the advancement of professional practice in relation to the specialist registers, maintaining standards and linking the specialist registers to members’ continuing professional development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Managing applications for specialist qualifications and registrations with responsibility for quality control and ensuring applicants receive an excellent experience.

    • Representing Royal Society of Chemistry on collaborative projects, examination panels and working with external partners to develop the specialist registers and ensure standards are maintained

    • Managing the professional body aspect of the specialist registers.

    • Engaging and persuading senior stakeholders in order to guide policy and the strategic development of the professional registers.

    • Project managing the specialist registers with a view to developing new opportunities within the community.

    This work will involve an in-depth and specialist knowledge of the specialist registers, specifically, Qualified Persons for the Pharmaceutical Industry (QP), Mastership of Chemical Analysis (MChemA), Chartered Science Teacher (CSciTeach), Chartered Scientist (CSci) and Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).

    Accountabilities:

    • Fully manage the application and revalidation processes for the professional registers and specialist qualifications, including supporting applicants, liaising with assessors, and processing documentation.

    • Manage the relationship with assessors of the professional registers and specialist qualifications, including delivering training, regular liaison and ensuring there is capacity for all applications to be assessed in a timely fashion.

    • Advise both prospective and current applicants regarding the professional registers and specialist qualifications, related competencies, continuing professional development and application processes.

    • Develop and manage distinct projects to increase the number of individuals applying for professional registrations.

    • Work with relevant committees and boards to develop and maintain robust and appropriate assessment systems for professional registers and specialist qualifications.

    • Assure the quality and accessibility of our application and assessment processes.

    • Oversee, project manage and strategically develop the portfolio of professional registers and specialist qualifications (MChemA, QP, CSciTeach, CSci and CEnv).

    • Work closely with internal teams, including membership, marketing, and communications to promote the professional registers and specialist qualifications to a wider audience.

    • Collaborate and be seen as an expert in the field with other professional bodies and external partners (for example the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the Society for the Environment, the Science Council).

    • Provide specialist intelligence service to the organisation and liaise with government and relevant agencies, for example the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), and Food Standards Agency (FSA).

    • Develop specialist knowledge to advise on national and EU legislation.  Maintain expertise as legislation is updated and modified.  Provide advice to members on this legislation and be an expert in the field.

    • Support responses to relevant consultations and policy development in order to safeguard appropriately qualified members’ rights to practise and to provide expert advice on such matters.

    • Work to safeguard the professional registers and specialist qualifications within legislation, and respond to statements produced by government and other legislative bodies.

    • Influence, guide, and be guided by RSC governance to ensure appropriate qualifying standards are sustained.

    • Work collaboratively and proactively while maintaining good team working relationships with colleagues in the accreditation and careers team and the wider RSC;  ensure a coherent approach is maintained between the teams.

    • Carry out any other duties as requested by the Vocational Skills Programme Manager.

    Main requirements:

    • a degree in the chemical sciences or equivalent.

    • Be (or eligible to be) a Member (MRSC) and Chartered Chemist (CChem).

    • Have consolidated their knowledge of science and developed professional key skills through postgraduate employment.

    • Demonstrate project management experience.

    • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of continuing professional development.

    • Possess excellent communication skills.

    You will also be expected to:

    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of qualifying standards in the chemical sciences.

    • Demonstrate an awareness of the range of organisations that employ chemical scientists.

    • Be able to apply their knowledge critically and demonstrate an ability to evaluate data relating to education and training in an accurate and equitable manner.

    • Interact and network competently with colleagues, members, employers of chemists and peers at other professional bodies.

    • Manage strategic projects that enhance qualifying standards (and any associated budget).

    • Manage and drive forward opportunities for improvement to established processes and procedures.

    • Guide external bodies (e.g. licensing bodies, companies) on how their education and training provision can map across to Royal Society of Chemistry qualifying standards.

    • Develop strong relationships with external organisations and bodies involved with the professional registers and specialist qualifications.

    • Recognise opportunities to link chartered status to professional registers.

    We\\\'re seeking a dynamic Education Coordinator to champion early career teachers, support education projects in the South East of England and transform how chemistry is taught in classrooms across the nation.

    You will support our strategic goals through regional engagement and delivery within the UK and Ireland, with a focus on the South East of England. You will travel extensively across this region to support our education communities through working with internal and external stakeholders including schools and members. You will also support the delivery of key education projects on a local basis and engage with our local members to act as advocates for chemistry, showcasing best practice in schools’ engagement activities.

    As part of our Education Community Development team, you\\\'ll be at the forefront of developing our support for target audiences. This work currently focuses on projects to support student teachers and early career educators across the UK and Ireland as they develop into confident classroom practitioners. From coordinating innovative training programs to building meaningful partnerships, you\\\'ll help provide impactful support that empowers these communities to offer a high-quality chemistry education for all.

    This role will require extensive travel in the South East of England; visiting schools, working with members, meeting stakeholders and attending events. This may involve weekends and non-core working hours.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Project management of projects under the education community development programme aiming to support the proposition for student and early career teachers, including:

      • Research, design and implementation of projects to support student and trainee teachers, and early career teachers to become confident classroom practitioners.

      • Coordinating our national and local student and trainee teacher offering to ensure consistency

      • Supporting student and trainee teachers, including development and delivery of online sessions and establishing networks

      • Acting as an advocate for best practice for early career teachers, providing guidance and advice to colleagues and partners to improve the impact and outcomes of our services

    • Manage and develop networks and partnerships with other organisations who share our aims to support early career teachers of chemistry.

    • Research, design and deliver professional development and learning experiences for audiences targeted by the Education Communities Development programme using both digital channels and face to face events.

    • Manage and develop professional development and learning projects focussed on audiences targeted by the Education Communities Development programme.

    • Undertake regular research and use analytics to monitor levels of engagement and satisfaction of target audiences within the Education Communities Development programme, using these insights to develop coherent support that optimises the value of our investment whilst growing impact and customer satisfaction

    • Delivery of key projects on a local basis including:

      • Introducing our support to teachers at the start of their career through delivering sessions to student and trainee teachers.

      • Developing successful partnerships and relationships with organisations and education stakeholders in the region to support delivery of our programmes.
