About the Role We are seeking experienced Masters to join our offshore marine operations team, operating modern Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) supporting the offshore renewable energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe navigation and operation of the vessel while ensuring the safety of crew, passengers and offshore technicians during daily operations. As Master, you will have overriding authority for the safe operation of the vessel and will be expected to make sound operational decisions in line with company procedures, maritime legislation and industry best practice. Key Responsibilities Safe Vessel Operations Safely command and navigate the vessel during all operations. Maintain safe vessel operations during departures, arrivals, pilotage, transit and offshore activities. Conduct safe crew transfer and push-on operations at offshore structures. Operate safely during restricted visibility and adverse weather conditions. Make operational decisions that prioritise safety at all times. Navigation & Passage Planning Prepare and execute safe passage plans. Monitor weather, tides and navigational hazards. Assess traffic conditions and under-keel clearance. Identify contingency plans, abort points and alternative ports where required. Ensure all navigational equipment including Radar, AIS, ECS and ECDIS (where fitted) is fully operational and used effectively. Crew Management Lead and supervise vessel crew. Ensure all crew members are fit for duty and suitably briefed. Allocate duties based on competence and experience. Ensure compliance with PPE requirements. Monitor crew welfare and working hours. Promote a positive safety culture where concerns can be raised openly. Passenger & Technician Safety Deliver passenger safety briefings. Ensure correct PPE is worn. Manage safe embarkation and disembarkation. Coordinate safe offshore crew transfer operations. Suspend operations if conditions or behaviours present an unacceptable risk. Crew Transfer Operations Assess the safety of every transfer operation by considering: Weather and sea state. Visibility. Vessel movement. Fender and contact condition. Offshore structure condition. Crew and technician readiness. Communications. Escape routes. Emergency recovery arrangements. Propulsion and steering performance. Safety must always take priority over operational or commercial pressures. Vessel Maintenance & Defect Reporting Maintain the vessel in a safe operational condition. Identify and report defects promptly. Record maintenance issues accurately. Assist with Planned Maintenance System (PMS) tasks where required. Liaise with engineering teams regarding repairs and maintenance. Ensure vessels are not operated where defects compromise safety unless authorised risk controls are in place. Emergency Preparedness Lead the crew during emergency situations including: Man Overboard Fire Collision Grounding Flooding Machinery failure Steering failure Medical emergencies Pollution incidents Abandon Ship Loss of communications Crew transfer incidents Conduct emergency drills and ensure all emergency equipment remains operational. Environmental Responsibilities Prevent marine pollution. Manage fuel transfers safely. Monitor bilge and waste management. Ensure spill response equipment is maintained. Report pollution or near-pollution incidents immediately. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate vessel records including: Vessel logbooks Crew hours and rest records Planned maintenance records Defect reports Near miss reports Accident and incident reports Drill records Safety briefings Permit to Work documentation Passenger records (where applicable) Communication Maintain clear communication with shore management, marine coordinators, client representatives and harbour authorities to ensure safe and efficient operations. Essential Requirements Master 200 CoC or higher (Master 500 advantageous) Previous experience operating Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) Experience supporting offshore wind or offshore renewable energy projects Excellent ship handling and navigation skills Strong understanding of marine safety legislation and the Workboat Code Experience conducting offshore crew transfer operations Good knowledge of passage planning and navigational systems Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to make sound decisions under pressure Valid ENG1 Medical STCW Basic Safety Training GWO Sea Survival (desirable) Full UK driving licence (preferred) What We Offer £290 per day for Masters. £315 per day for Masters holding a Master 500 CoC or above . £20 daily subsistence allowance when working away from home.
