Our client, a producer of high quality Kombucha based in London, is looking to recruit a process-driven engineer to take responsibility for the maintenance, reliability, and engineering performance of the bottling line. The Packaging Engineer will act as the technical owner of bottling equipment, ensuring the line is well-maintained, reliable, and engineered to deliver consistent quality and scalable throughput.Responsibilities will include:Bottling line maintenance & reliability
• Own the reliability of all bottling equipment, including fillers, cappers, labeller, conveyors, packers, and CIP systems.
• Plan and execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and control faults.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent engineering solutions.
• Maintain maintenance records, spare parts lists and technical documentation.Bottling line performance engineering
• Use OEE, downtime, and failure data to identify and remove bottlenecks.
• Design engineering solutions to improve throughput, reliability and line balance.
• Define and maintain standards for setup, control parameters and operating limits.
• Support speed increases, changeovers, and process optimisation.Capital projects & line development
• Support bottling-related capital projects, upgrades and capacity expansions.
• Specify, select, install and commission new equipment.
• Provide engineering input into line layout, utilities and future site scale-up.Quality, safety & compliance
• Ensure bottling systems meet food safety, quality and H&S standards.
• Support risk assessments, validations and change control.
• Investigate quality incidents and implement engineering corrective actions.Qualifications and Experience:• Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or process engineering.
• Proven experience maintaining and engineering bottling lines in a drink manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on capability across mechanical systems, with working knowledge of electrical and control systems.
• Experience implementing preventative maintenance strategies and reliability improvements.
• Ability to diagnose complex bottling line failures and engineer permanent solutions.
• Experience delivering engineering-led continuous improvement and capital projects.
• Solid understanding of food safety, quality systems, and health & safety requirements.
• Comfortable working in a scaling, hands-on environment where engineering ownership is critical to performance.
