As Analyst/Programmer (called Design Consultant at Target) you will be focused on solving our business critical challenges with a combination of technical, industry and business acumen. Utilising your key skills you will design software solutions that not only deliver on our client’s requirements but also drive forward Targets technical roadmap. The role is primarily remote, however you may be asked to attend our Cardiff or Newport office when required. What does the role of Design Consultant look like day to day? Using IBM iSeries (AS/400) to design high quality, scalable, secure and resilient software solutions for Target and the requirements of its existing or future clients. Utilise effective design capability that can be articulated to clients and internal teams for the development of proposed solutions. Sit on the internal Design Authority Board (DAB) and review proposed designs to ensure compliance with the agreed terms of reference for Targets technical strategy. Play a key role in Targets modernisation by utilising your skills and knowledge of the IT industry to shape solutions. Communicate design decisions, plans, goals and strategies to project teams and senior leadership. Research, investigate, propose and introduce new technologies/third party applications to ensure Target remains relevant within the market.
