Job Description: Linux / Unix Engineer. (SC Cleared) Manchester / Hybrid Inside IR35 - £480 per day Initial 3 months contract. Our Central Government client is looking for a strong hands-on Unix/Linux engineer with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability, required to support a security-critical production estate including legacy Solaris platforms. Key Technical Skills: Linux Administration RHEL / CentOS (or equivalent) Performance troubleshooting, patching, system management Solaris Strong experience administering legacy Solaris systems ZFS, system stability, and production support Core Unix Engineering OS-level troubleshooting (CPU, memory, disk, services) System patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management Scripting / automation (shell, basic tooling) Production Support Experience in live enterprise environments Incident, problem, and change execution Environment Secure, audited, highly regulated infrastructure Mixed Linux and legacy Unix estate requiring specialist support capability This is a short-term requirement for a technically strong Security-Cleared Unix engineer with Solaris expertise, capable of operating independently in a controlled, production environment to support exit delivery.
