    Position Purpose:
    The MDE Level III is a competent and experienced design engineer, able to execute all design phases of a project (or multiple projects simultaneously). They may assume overall project responsibility or responsibility for particular project elements, and will monitor progress and report back to a senior engineer regards technical, schedule and budgetary constraints. The MDE Level III must maintain knowledge of the cutting edge of technology in relevant subject areas.Whilst the role does not involve any direct line management, there will be duties in delegation of work,
    planning, supporting and mentoring staff as required.     Position Purpose

    The Mechanical Fabricator plays a critical role in the manufacture and assembly of a wide range of bespoke projects including structural fabrications, fascia’s and show decks, and mechanically driven stage machinery. This position combines high-quality welding and fabrication with mechanical build and fitting, supporting both static structures and dynamic, moving systems.
    Working across mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, the role involves the use of both MIG and TIG welding processes to fabricate components to engineering specifications and tight tolerances. In addition to fabrication, the position includes mechanical assembly of parts such as gearboxes, motors, drive systems, and other moving mechanisms used in performance and staging environments.
     
    Responsibilities
    Fabricate structural and architectural components using MIG/TIG/MMA welding to require specifications.Work with various materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.Construct custom metal frameworks, fascia structures, deck platforms, and mounting assemblies tailored to project requirements. Use cutting, rolling, and bending equipment to form components as needed.Adhere to welding procedures and quality standards, ensuring high finish quality and dimensional accuracy.Assemble mechanical systems including bearings, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, linear rails, and other components used in stage machinery.Fit and align moving parts to ensure smooth and safe mechanical function.Perform functional testing and basic fault finding on mechanical systems.Work from mechanical schematics, exploded drawings, and layout plans to complete assemblies.Maintain an organized and tidy work area, adhering to health & safety standards.Support cross-functional collaboration with design, engineering, and installation teams to resolve build challenges.Conduct in-process quality checks and ensure all work meets project specifications and safety requirements.Handle materials in line with company procedures, including inventory checks and waste minimization.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to fabrication, assembly, and workflow.

    Position Purpose 


    The Support Manager role is key within the Support team, which acts as the external face and internal hub for project delivery by the UK Support business. Support projects can range from single site visits to medium-sized refurbishment and planned maintenance visits. Typical Support projects can be up to £250,000 in value and maybe delivered anywhere around the globe. To carry out the Support Manager role effectively requires close management of our clients, and leadership of internal teams to ensure that all deliverables are met and that the right solution is delivered on time and on budget, reacting to and prioritising at short notice.


    Responsibilities 
    Prepare a strategic plan of how each individual project is to be executed by working with the support of the Senior Support Manager or a Senior Support Engineer, leading those project teams to agree solutions, timeframes and budgets.Manage clients to agree on clear scope, schedule and contract, and manage the project team of that contract, negotiating changes and variations where applicable, with the support of the Senior Support Manager or a Senior Support Engineer.Cost and budget projects correctly and do any necessary follow up for own projects and direct other support managers to do so independently if there are any discrepancies. As a senior team member, they are additionally expected to take the lead role on projects, mentor other engineers, and drive department initiatives. The Controls Engineering team is responsible for control systems on multiple projects spanning all project phases. The engineer's involvement in a project will generally begin with design, and continue with engineering activities throughout manufacturing, shop and site commissioning, and customer handover.

    Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities Identifies architecture and key controls technologies to meet project needs. Understands entire automated systems, and how different disciplines interact (mechanical, controls, AVL, artistic, etc.). Writes technical documentation both to fulfill project requirements and for internal purposes. Performs safety analysis to satisfy both internal standards and external customer requirements; willing to pursue or maintain TÜV functional safety certification. Develops custom PLC projects, HMI screens, and software configurations when required for projects. Suggests and researches new products and solutions, and when necessary, builds and tests prototypes. Assists in project bidding activities, including technical proposals and estimates. Leads design reviews, offering constructive feedback to the team. Ensures smooth handover to fabrication and integration teams. Promotes and contributes to internal standards and processes.     Position Purpose A Mechanical Integrator is a TAIT unique title for a production technician tasked with bringing multiple elements of a project together as one cohesive system. This role plays a key technical and leadership aspect of the project life cycle. An integrator has essential responsibilities in project coordination ensuring smooth and effective shop and site installation involving work across 3 specialised areas such as Entertainment Rigging, Automation and Staging/Carpentry.  The integration department represents the final step in the project process and is key to delivering a high-quality product to our clients. This is achieved by providing clients with a personalised, technical resource during the creative process, providing a seamless transition between technology and art, enabling the creation of the best shows and spectacles in the world. TAIT is committed to the training and development of our teams to ensure success and career progression. We work with our team members to grow towards their goals and understanding all of TAIT assets, including mechanical lifts, performer flying winches, and custom staging solutions. Key responsibilities: Perform mechanical tasks on a variety of staging/rigging equipment to ensure that TAIT’s products can meet the desired specifications as outlined by the client Assist with the assembly and disassembly of on-site custom show-built elements Be actively involved in setting up-staging and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all TAIT Health and Safety policies and procedures are always met Perform the safe installation of lifting systems Prepare technical and inspection documentation Be able to travel at short notice to client sites, possibly internationally to support clients & projects Make sure all final reports, documentation and tickets are kept in order and up to date, logging all work appropriately Engage with the projects teams to ensure successful handover of projects to integration Coordinates integration of separate elements into one cohesive project Communicates frequently with rest of project team about tasks and risks Fulfils shop testing and setup responsibilities, especially for complex elements Maintains a basic understanding of all integration-related technical fields Develops an expert knowledge of one or more integration-related technical fields Promotes and contributes to internal standards and processes Play an active role in the global integration team and work with other departments to ensure the smooth running and economic success of the company and in generating new business. Establishes and cultivates good relationships with clients, stagehands, electricians, project managers, and many other personnel Knowledge Required Experience working in the entertainment technician industry Knowledge and understanding of entertainment/construction technology and equipment Working knowledge of mechanical terminations and fixtures Entertainment rigging and components The ability to work from a custom set of drawings to create bespoke products. Ability to repair and replace complex mechanical assemblies Formal Technical Background Theatre/Entertainment Experience Personal Circumstances Willingness to travel Ability to Travel & Work in “Entertainment Conditions” Right to Work in the UK Read Less
