    Restored to its former glory, The George Hotel has proudly sat on Colchester High Street in Essex, close to the City’s Castle, for over 500 years.  Guests are welcomed to a lavish stay in our beloved hotel full of charm and history, invited to sleep in one of the 49 heritage rooms or suites with emperor beds or the 44 modern rooms of St Nicholas’ House. All rooms are full of designer touches and period features you would expect from a hotel of this age.

    Guests  enjoy cocktails, local draught lagers and ales and an extensive wine list from the contemporary bar. Dine in the relaxed two-tiered restaurant that offers a daily a la carte menu inspired by British and worldwide cuisines, using locally sourced and seasonal produce. Lighter lunches can be taken on the Moroccan style Courtyard area, or quintessential English Afternoon Tea in the Victorian Themed ‘T-at The George’ Tea room- there’s something to suit all tastes at The George.
