Status - Full Time. Part time and flexible working applications will be considered subject to meeting organisational requirements. Location - Multiple Locations to be confirmed. Trainee Financial Investigator Grade G moving to Grade H when fully qualified and competent. Grade G salary range - £33,128 - £39,149 and Grade H for Accredited Financial Investigators salary range - £38,064 - £45,058. The successful candidate when suitably trained as part of the team will take part in overnight and weekend on call responsibilities. The role is based within the Economic Crime Unit and will report to the Financial Investigation Manager. Key responsibilities: Through financial investigation, the successful candidate will support Divisions / Forces in the targeting of criminals and assisting with financial enquiries in respect of major investigations and all other suitable investigations. To identify and pursue opportunities for the recovery of criminal assets by means of confiscation and civil recovery powers in order to further the disruption of criminal activity. To act as a point of reference for Divisional and Force-wide Officers in relation to financial investigation, assisting with referrals of specified cases to the Economic Crime Unit (ECU) and making enquiries with financial institutions. Prepare complex reports and statements by obtaining, analysing and interpreting financial intelligence from all available sources; provide expert evidence at court and carry out strategic negotiation toward criminal asset removal through confiscation. Prepare prosecutor’s statements in connection with confiscation investigations, deal with defence responses to such statements, brief Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) representatives and Prosecution Counsel and present evidence at Court as a witness. Take the lead role in the financial investigation of all appropriate cases, in particular ‘criminal lifestyle’ offences e.g. drug trafficking, people trafficking, brothel keeping, counterfeiting, blackmail and inchoate offences. Develop financial profiles of selected subjects as directed, obtaining, analysing and interpreting financial evidence and intelligence from all available ‘restricted’ and ‘open’ sources. Take responsibility for the financial aspect of designated operations liaising closely with case officers, attending briefings, and assisting with the development of the investigation. Identify and pursue opportunities for the recovery of criminal assets by means of either prosecution and confiscation, or by civil recovery, using part 5 powers for the forfeiture and seizure of cash, funds held in bank accounts, listed assets and crypto-currency. Assess suitability of those cases for application of all appropriate orders pursuant to the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) and other relevant legislation and to discuss and arrange requests for granting of such orders in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service. Deliver training in all aspects of financial investigation when required. Ensuring that other members of the Division and Force are aware of the existing provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and other relevant legislation and the type of work being carried out by the Unit. Undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may reasonably be required, including the specific duties of similar or lesser graded posts Skills & Experience Previous investigative experience, you will be able to evidence your experience of leading investigations, and directing investigations, ideally in relation to financial offences. Demonstrate you will be able to produce clear, concise, and accurate reports suitable for court, and present them. Experience in other operational policing roles can be considered on a case by case basis for candidates who have served a minimum of 2 years within the last 5 years and have exemplary references.
