This position is ideal for a graduate with the right expertise eager to develop in a dynamic laboratory environment.
    Total Package at the time of joining up to £45,289 depending on experience.
    We'll help you progress and develop yourself further, and will support you with creating a development plan to achieve that. The working pattern is 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility within site hours.
    This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Washington Laboratory.
    What will I be doing? As our Chemist, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a single stage AMS system configured for carbon-14 testing, along with managing the associated Carbon Extraction and Graphitisation System (CEGS). Your role involves prioritising workloads to meet customer needs, producing accredited analytical reports under ISO 17025 standards, and maintaining the laboratory’s quality management system. You will lead method development and validation for AMS techniques, contribute to UKAS assessments, manage lab stocks, and troubleshoot instrument issues to minimise downtime. Your time will be split between hands-on instrument operation and office-based reporting and quality control activities in the same building. What are the requirements? Experience or expertise in operating or working with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) and Carbon Extraction and Graphitisation Systems (CEGS) Graduate level degree or minimum HNC in a relevant science discipline, suitable for candidates with AMS-related knowledge Strong understanding of UKAS ISO 17025 and quality management systems within an analytical laboratory Proven ability to develop and validate analytical methods in line with accreditation standards Good time management and the ability to work independently as well as part of a small team Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and support continual improvement initiatives Who we are

As an experienced supervisor, you’ll be used to managing people, keeping accurate records and dealing with queries and problems.  Some knowledge of the Waste or Transport industry is also needed, along with good numerical skills.     What will I be doing?  Keeping an Energy plant running like clockwork is a major operational challenge. You’ll play your part by taking care of our stores inventory, which contains spares for our equipment and engineering consumables. It involves controlling, ordering and issuing stock, so that we always have the right spares when we need them. You will be introducing and managing process controls so our energy recovery centre can run at maximum efficiency and availability. Our equipment and machinery is very valuable and you’ll have responsibility for financial management. What are the requirements?     What will I be doing? As a Re-Use Operative, you will be in charge of the daily running of our service, based at Grove HWRC in Aberdeen, liaising with the Site Supervisor to make sure the Re-Use facility is fully stocked and that everything is properly stored or ready for Re-Use. This will involve you: Merchandising stock, organising, preparing, pricing and presenting donations for re-use, to ensure customer satisfaction. Manage stock and arrange for collection of materials from other locations within Aberdeen. Handling all transactions associated with the service, including recording accurate weights of materials, reconciliation of stock, processing returns etc.. Ensure goods have their value maximized and all rejected items are disposed of appropriately. Make certain that collections and deliveries are arranged in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Maintain the security of the Re-Use facility, including stock and buildings. You'll be expected to promote the values of the service and the sustainable nature of the re-use scheme in Aberdeen, at the same time as providing excellent customer experience to encourage repeat custom and the smooth and profitable running of the facility. What are the requirements? You will be passionate about the environment and in particular this re-use project, with prior retail experience and a real enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service. Either you will have knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or willing to rapidly develop it, but you should have an understanding of maintaining stock, merchandising and the ability to handle financial aspects of retail; A flexible attitude to work since weekend work will be required.
