    Cardiff International Study Centre (ISC) is a new and exciting development, launched in September 2020. You would be working in a culture of enhancing learning, teaching and assessment through a developmental approach, which for you will mean autonomy, innovation, and development opportunities.

    You will teach on International Foundation Year (level 3) and International Year One (level 4) programmes focusing on the Engineering and Physical Science pathways. You will play a key role by contributing to the development of teaching materials and formative assessment. You will empower students to reach the level they need to progress into university by providing student-centred, engaging, and innovative learning. You’ll undertake marking and feedback on formative and summative assessments.

    We are especially interested to hear from applicants with experience in teaching Civil Engineering and/or Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

    ABOUT THE ROLEContribute to the delivery and development of modules and teaching sessions offered by the Cardiff ISCPrepare and deliver teaching sessions, with a maximum teaching load of up to 25 hours per week.     The Progression & Engagement Officer’s role is to support students’ progression needs both face-to-face and online.

    The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of tutorial sessions, 1-1 support and guidance, establishing a programme of activities to help students develop skills and confidence outside the classroom sin preparation for their transition to HE. This will require excellent people skills and a good level of administrative ability. 

    ABOUT THE ROLEActing as a personal tutor to deliver Academic Success tutorials and provide 1:1 personal development, academic and progression counselling to students. Collaborate within the network to design and create learning materials around study skills, welfare topics and employability for Academic Success tutorials. Update and maintain the virtual learning environment and embed alternative digital learning technologies into delivery. Put interventions in place in relation to attendance in a timely manner and in accordance with the Attendance Policy and accurately recorded. Track student performance, liaise with the academic team to identify suitable intervention strategies, and ensure performance and progression records are maintained. Monitor, track and provide reports on student destination offers and refer students to the Extended Progression Team for assistance in finding alternative choices where they do not meet their progression requirements. Track VLE analytics and gather data on work completion to identify gaps and actions for students. Support students in actively taking care of their mental and physical health. Liaise with the Student Wellbeing Team where there are concerns of students welfare.     Leeds International Study Centre and its programmes are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University. 

    You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our education strategy, broader scholarship and aims for outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre. As a subject lead, you will contribute to the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials and delivery across a range of modules or within a subject area. The Subject Lead role may also have programme management responsibility of an IY1 programme. The role is supported through remission against overall teaching hours.
