    As a Civil Engineer, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality designs for diverse building structure-led developments, including residential, commercial, public sector, and regeneration projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Conducting desktop research for site information and mapping, and identifying physical constraints, conditions, and boundaries.

    Collecting and collating project proposals and data from the design team (drawings, reports, statements, dates).

    Outline & Detailed Design:

    Resolving physical constraints.

    Designing site levels.

    Modelling, analysing, laying out, detailing, and scheduling drainage and SuDS.

    Highways: amendments, alignments, sections, schedules, details, standards and technical submission packages

    Performing earthworks volume assessments and writing technical reports (drainage strategies, technical notes, condition surveys, engineering strategies).

    Preparing technical submission packages e.g. highways S278/38/50 & sewers S104/185, SAB

    Managing document control, coordinating with other design inputs and collaborative/shared models, and updating designs based on feedback.

    Communicating with clients, contractors, design teams, and approving authorities to share information, confirm technical points, and resolve design-related matters.

    Advising on, monitoring, and reporting on timescales for task completion.

    Conducting site visits when required, both to inform design and during construction.

    How You'll Contribute

    Assisting with the strategic development of a project's layout, levels, drainage, highways, etc.

    Contributing to 3D proposed levels and earthworks models and assisting with 2D drawing production.

    Identifying, coordinating, and strategizing resolutions for below-ground utilities and obstruction constraints.

    Cost Control - Contributing to cost control through awareness of project budgets/value, value engineering, and reducing task time.

    Delegating drawing work to junior engineers and mentoring junior staff on project tasks, design, and drawing production.

    Participating in project meetings and meetings with approving bodies.

    Assisting with resource planning, timescales, and feedback.

    Monitoring and resolving incoming site queries, design team queries, and requests.

    About You:

    A foundational and growing understanding in the design of levels, earthworks, drainage, minor highways, and external works, including the completion of analysis models, calculations, and technical report writing.

    Understanding of:

    Construction: General practice, details, methods, products, materials.

    Project Stages: Typical deliverables, parties involved, and technical processes.

    Approval Processes: Planning, SAB, highway, drainage, flood risk activity permits / ordinary watercourse consent, and other permits.

    Software Proficiency:

    Expertise in: AutoCAD and InfoDrainage

    Awareness and growing capabilities in: Civil 3D, collaborative model platforms, common data environments, project management platforms, and NBS Chorus.

    You will be responsible for the delivery of technically excellent Fire Engineering design on a number of projects as well as detailed design to construction status information and beyond into Post Occupancy Evaluation. You will be involved in site inspections and reporting throughout construction.

    ABOUT YOU

    You will be qualified with a relevant BSc/ BEng/ MSc/ MEng in Fire Engineering or equivalent.

    You will have previous experience working in a fire engineering consultancy, delivering fire strategy and fire safety consultancy services. Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations and fire safety standards.

    Most importantly, you will have a passion and talent for fire engineering.

The geophysicist will carry out and supervise magnetometry surveys for a range of projects, ensuring that they are completed to a high standard. The team carries out surveys across the UK, with a focus on our major water, highways, and infrastructure clients.

    The Geophysical Survey Team is part of Stantec’s wider Archaeology and Heritage Team, which provides high-quality historic environment consultancy advice and delivery of technical documents for all types of schemes, from small through to nationally important schemes, and there would be opportunities to gain experience in this area as part of this role.

    As a Geophysicist, you will conduct and oversee magnetometry surveys for various projects, primarily in Southern England. Your responsibilities will include developing Written Schemes of Investigation, liaising with team members, clients, and stakeholders, travelling to survey sites, collecting high-quality data, maintaining equipment, processing and interpreting data, preparing comprehensive reports, and archiving project data.

    About You

    You will be a highly motivated individual with a passion for and sound multi-period knowledge of British archaeology and legislation, planning policy and guidance relevant to geophysical surveys. You will also have some professional experience in magnetometry surveys, proficiency in software like TerraSurvey, a proven ability to interpret geophysical data and write reports, and membership (or working towards membership) of CIfA at Associate level. A full, clean UK driving license is also essential.

    Whilst optional, experience of other geophysical surveys is desirable.
