    Job Description: Senior Residential Children's Worker (Children's Home) Salary: £33,000 per annum (inclusive of sleep-in rate) Shift Pattern: Shifts are typically 15.5 hours on a rolling rota Location: Stoke on Trent Reports to: Home Manager Job Purpose: We are seeking a Senior Residential Children's Worker to play a key role in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care to children and young people within a residential setting. You will be responsible for leading shifts, supporting staff development, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding requirements. The role involves unsociable hours, sleep-in shifts, and participation in an organised rota to meet the needs of the children and young people. Key Responsibilities Care & Safeguarding Deliver and maintain consistently high-quality, therapeutic careAct as Key Worker for allocated children and young peopleSafeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all timesSupport the cultural, religious, ethnic, and individual needs of young people Leadership & Shift Management Lead and manage shifts effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all timesOversee care practice and support the development, performance, and skills of staffPromote structure, clear boundaries, and consistent routines within the homeEnsure the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose Multi-Agency Working Contribute to care planning, statutory reviews, monitoring, and reportingPrepare reports and attend meetings, reviews, and multi-disciplinary discussionsWork collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agenciesSupport young peoples educational progress and liaise with schools and professionals Administration & Compliance Take responsibility for accurate record keeping, petty cash, planning, and activity coordinationMaintain confidentiality and ensure records are compliant with policy and regulationFollow Health & Safety, Fire, and safeguarding procedures and complete risk assessments Home Environment Carry out cooking, cleaning, and other home-making tasksInvolve young people in daily living activities appropriate to their age and ability Personal Development Attend supervision, appraisals, training, and staff meetingsDemonstrate ongoing commitment to continuous professional developmentPromote equality, diversity, and equality of opportunity Additional Duties Participate in the on-call rotaProvide cover for sickness and holidaysSupport the Deputy Manager as required Essential NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children & Young People (or equivalent)Minimum 2 years experience working with children and young people in a residential children's settingExperience leading shifts within residential childcareExperience of care planning and statutory reviewsExperience of multi-disciplinary workingStrong experience in monitoring, recording, and report writingFull UK Driving LicenceWillingness to work a 24/7 rota, including sleep-ins and weekends Safeguarding Commitment We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
