Simply Recruitment is working on behalf of a well established specialist engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis.
Our client delivers complex electrical infrastructure projects within highly regulated environments across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can support the successful commercial delivery of projects from contract award through to final account.
Previous Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) experience would be a distinct advantage; however, we are equally keen to speak with candidates from industrial, power generation, utilities, rail, infrastructure, manufacturing, petrochemical or other heavy engineering sectors.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maximising project profitability and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial aspects of projects from contract award through to final account.
Prepare and manage project cost plans, forecasts and commercial reports.
Administer subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and final accounts.
Prepare and submit applications for payment, valuations and variation quotations.
Monitor project costs, identify commercial risks and implement mitigation measures.
Manage contract changes, compensation events and variations in accordance with contract requirements.
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal departments to ensure effective commercial management.
Support Project Managers with cost control, budgeting and financial reporting.
Attend client and commercial meetings, providing regular updates on project performance.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures and commercial governance.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the electrical, construction or infrastructure sectors.
Strong commercial background within industrial or infrastructure projects.
Good understanding of cost management, contract administration and commercial reporting.
Excellent organisational, negotiation and communication skills.
Commercial awareness with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Willingness to travel to projects across the UK.
Desirable
Previous Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) experience.
Experience delivering projects within aviation, defence or other regulated environments.
Knowledge of NEC contracts.
Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification (Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent).
Membership of or working towards RICS, CIOB or similar professional body.
Experience with cost management software and ERP systems.
