Marketing & Media Strategist
SHIFT Active Media | Bath
SHIFT Active Media is looking for a Strategist with a passion for cycling, the outdoors, and creative communications.
You’ll work closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, the wider SHIFT team, and our clients to develop brand, media, and integrated communications strategies that help cycling and outdoor brands thrive. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of our strategic tools and thought leadership programme.
The role
As a Strategist at SHIFT, you’ll combine creativity, insight, and commercial thinking to shape strategies that guide our clients’ communications across brand, media, PR, social and beyond. You’ll turn complex data and audience insights into actionable recommendations and work collaboratively to deliver integrated, impactful campaigns.
We believe in the power of in-person collaboration, so team members are asked to spend 4 days per week working in our Bath office.
What you’ll be doing
Strategy & planning
Support strategy and planning on key accounts, helping to develop integrated communications plans across brand, creative, PR, media and social.
Contribute to the development of brand positioning, campaign concepts, and longer-term communication strategies.
Insight & analysis
Tap into our research team, proprietary data, and external sources to uncover actionable insights.
Use audience, market, and performance data to guide strategic recommendations.
Help establish measures for effectiveness and analyse results to inform future plans.
Briefing & collaboration
Write and deliver clear, discipline-specific briefs for creative, media, PR, and social teams.
Work cross-functionally to bring campaigns to life and ensure integrated solutions.
Support the ongoing evolution of SHIFT’s strategic tools and thought leadership.
Effectiveness & innovation
Track campaign performance, report insights, and make recommendations to optimise impact.
Stay on top of emerging marketing channels, technologies, and industry trends, including AI tools, and integrate them into your workflow where appropriate.
About you
Brand & strategic thinker: Able to get under the skin of a brand, cut through complexity, and deliver clear, compelling communication strategies.
Creative and articulate: Skilled at turning consumer insights into propositions and messaging that resonate across channels.
Marketing knowledge: Solid understanding of marketing theory, channels, and emerging technologies.
Comfortable with data: Confident using spreadsheets, analytics, and insight sources to inform recommendations.
Collaborative: Builds strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues to keep projects moving forward.
Communicator: Produces well-crafted presentations and documents that communicate complex ideas simply.
Passion for cycling/outdoors: Genuine interest in cycling or active lifestyles will make this role especially rewarding.
Preferred experience
Experience in a strategy, planning, or insight role within an agency or client-side marketing environment.
A track record of developing marketing or communication strategies supported by insights and data.
Experience across multiple disciplines (brand, media, social, PR) is highly desirable.
