    How would you like to be part of a once-in-a-generation build of a world-class machining facility right here in the heart of Sheffield?At Sheffield Forgemasters we are building more than just a machine shop, we’re creating a state-of-the-art hub for precision engineering that will play a key part in the UK manufacturing and defence capability for the future.Our new machining facility, supported by the £1.3bn investment from the MoD, will increase our current 64-acre footprint by another 16 acres and will house large-scale, modern machinery that utilises digital connectivity and automation to meet future standards.This is your chance to be part of this exciting project from day one, as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.     At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team.This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Forge department uses comprehensive techniques to create hollow, solid and near-net shaped forgings.The Forge itself includes two open die forging presses (4,500 tonne and 10,000 tonnes respectively) which are capable of handling ingots up to 300 tonnes. It also houses large gas-fuelled furnaces for re-heating the materials to temperature (usually around 1,250°c) prior to forging and vertical oil and water quenching facilities up to 20 metres deep, allowing hot components to be transferred directly from the forge or heat treatment area, into a quench tank to cool and harden.Specifically, the Forge Maintenance Team is responsible for keeping the forge equipment, tools, and facilities in safe, reliable, and efficient working condition through preventive and reactive maintenance.As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will either individually or in partnership with another team member undertake duties associated with general plant operational efficiency and production availability incorporating facilities issues.What you’ll be doingResponding to equipment and facilities breakdowns and corrective actions.Perform planned, preventative and predictive maintenance activities.Electrical isolation of plant and equipment.Completing and maintaining accurate, timely documentation and records via the Spidex CMMS system.Working closely with the Maintenance Lead Electrical Engineer to ensure the planning of maintenance work is conducted correctly.Assist in the achievement of operational targets and schedules.Ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities are carried out to specified instructions and schedules with corrective actions implemented to resolve defective issues.Implementing root cause analysis actions.Upholding health, safety, and housekeeping standards in all working areas.Mentor and support team members where required.Maintenance of all plant equipment including: DC & AC CranesHydraulic presses and equipmentOpen-die forge presses with manipulatorsRadial forging machines

    About You
    Strong programming experience, for castings and forgings.
    Good knowledge of modern milling machine cutters and methods.
    CAD/CAM experience, ideally Siemens NX.
    Ability to create models and manufacturing drawings is essential.
    Experience using Unigraphics.
    Experience in offline Programming of CNC milling and turning machining is essential.
    Experience using programme verification software, such as Vericut.
    Our ideal candidate will also be an apprentice-trained machinist.

Our Work Rolls department produces forged steel rolls in our custom-built steel processing facility, that is among the most advanced, dedicated forged roll plants in the world.As a Machinist - Grinder, you will operate a cylindrical grinder to remove material to achieve the required diameter, finish, and roundness of steel rolls. What you’ll be doing
    Operating cylindrical grinding machines to meet required roll size, shape and finish quality.
