You ll be responsible for making sure our treatment processes are working optimally to deliver important work enhancing our regions rivers. The role will consist of Proactively and reactively maintain the electrical assets onsite. Reacting to failures and planned improvement works across the area on sewage pumping stations and sewage treatment works Carrying out service and replacement of assets Pump motors, electrical circuitry components, contactors, overloads, slip ring assemblies, telemetry outstations, variable speed drives and motor control circuits. Supporting the local maintenance teams, carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance activity on electromechanical wastewater assets Undertake fault diagnostics and have the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.     As our Senior Modeller, you’ll be responsible for assessing and developing initial options to reduce storm overflow spills across the wastewater network and treatment systems. This includes contributing to the introduction of innovative solutions and expanding the range of tools available for spill reduction, with a focus on rapid and widespread implementation.

    You’ll carry out option development assessments for specific sites, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and feasibility budgets. Your work will involve reviewing and updating hydraulic models, managing survey data, and analysing results to inform decision-making. You will also oversee project-specific hydraulic modelling requirements, including model audits and fitness-for-use assessments. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will support the wider River Health Team by providing expert guidance and helping to build the technical capabilities of team members. This includes developing and implementing advanced modelling processes for cutting-edge solutions such as real-time control of gates and pumping stations, as well as large-scale Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) deployment.

    Key accountabilities will include:

    Model conceptual designs to develop innovative, efficient TOTEX solutions, collaborating with internal and external teams from concept to delivery. Assess wastewater network performance to identify and validate risks and needs. Investigate root causes and mechanisms of network issues. Manage hydraulic modelling across multiple projects, coordinating with model maintenance, asset planning, and delivery teams. Assess model suitability; scope, procure, and manage asset, flow, and catchment surveys. Build, update, and verify models to meet Severn Trent Water design standards. Conduct historical verification by engaging with customers and operational teams to understand system performance.
    WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE We’re looking for a skilled hydraulic modeller with strong experience using InfoWorks ICM and associated GIS tools, including the ability to carry out model audits and verification for complex assets and hydrology. You’ll need a solid understanding of hydraulic principles and model limitations, along with the ability to build and manage integrated D/D and full D catchment-wide models using various runoff and river modules.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in Drainage and Wastewater Management Planning (DWMP), Sewerage Management Planning, and Drainage Area Planning. You’ll also have a good understanding of wastewater network and treatment works design, operation, and maintenance is essential, as is the ability to manage and analyse large-scale monitoring data to identify risks and inform decision-making.

The role will entail working within a regional team of Process Scientists supporting Sewage Treatment Works in both a proactive and reactive manner. This will involve attending site, working closely with the operational teams and providing process guidance to help maintain compliance. You will cover - area’s across the midlands. The role will involve specific focus on process emissions as part of our Net Zero Carbon drive, working as an area co-ordinator with the other Process Scientists. Primarily this will require networking & research, monitoring, hypothesis testing & solution development along with other Subject Matter Experts. The role will also entail working within a regional team of Process Scientists supporting Sewage Treatment Works in both a proactive and reactive manner. Additionally, Capital Scheme support may be required to provide the required technical advice and monitoring during commissioning of capital projects, to contribute to the process commissioning plan, and complete documentation sign off. The role will also include undertaking root cause investigations of failures to prevent recurrence and promoting optimisation of resources and efficient operation of Sewage Treatment Works. Some of your other key accountabilities will include: Developing Wastewater Recycling approach to process emissions through research, monitoring and hypothesis testing To take a lead role in delivering the environmental compliance ODI and EPA To proactively recognise processes not working within acceptable parameters, identify and complete mitigating actions to resolve process issues, utilising the relevant teams within the organisation to ensure compliance To complete full root cause analysis, complete process report on permit breaches and cascade lessons learnt across the business To co-ordinate the process response to incidents, and to take a key role in process recovery and generate recovery plans Be responsible for setting and reviewing Golden Measures performance triggers To assess the impact on the process of taking assets out of service at medium and high risk WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE Having knowledge of sewage and sludge treatment process would be beneficial, as well as having a scientific background and/or a background in effective problem solving, along with influencing key stakeholders. Experience of working in a sampling / analysis environment and using various systems would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is required for the role.
