    Working as a Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) in Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS) is more than just a role-it's an opportunity to be part of a professional team that plays a vital role in the justice system, ensuring safety and security every day.     We are operational 24/6 and you'll cover various early and late shifts, 35hrs pw. Flexibility is key as due to the nature of role there are a range of different working arrangements & additional hours. There will be days when your finishing time could be unpredictable, however, we operate a rota basis (provided 12 weeks in advance) that allows you the flexibility to enjoy meaningful time off to do the things you enjoy & love.

    About the Role:

    As a PCO at our court, you'll work as part of a team to provide safe and secure escorting and custody services to detainees, focusing on maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing. During court proceedings, you'll be responsible for every aspect of detainee management until it's time for them to return to custody or be released. Key duties include: Escorting defendants to and from courtrooms, cells, and other areas within the court, including accompanying them to the toilet to ensure security and safety. This may involve being handcuffed to the detainee. Monitoring and supervising detainees while they are in the docks during court sessions, ensuring they remain secure and do not pose a risk to themselves or others. Being privy to sensitive and confidential information discussed during court proceedings, including testimonies, legal arguments etc. Maintaining discretion and confidentiality is paramount. Being prepared to listen to harrowing and distressing testimonies and evidence. It is crucial to maintain professionalism and provide support to detainees while managing your own emotional wellbeing. Ensuring that detainees have access to food and drink throughout the day, catering to any dietary requirements or restrictions. Monitoring the mental and physical health of detainees, providing support and reporting any concerns to the appropriate authorities. Ensuring the safety and security of the court environment, including responding to any incidents or emergencies that may arise. Conducting thorough searches of property and individuals to prevent contraband from entering secure areas. Completing necessary paperwork and data entry accurately, including logging detainee movements, incidents, and any other relevant information. Working closely with other court staff, law enforcement, and legal professionals to ensure smooth and secure court operations
    What you need to do the job!

    Our current PCO's come to us with different work & life experiences, what you've done before doesn't matter, what matters is that you're committed to making a difference to the lives of others - the rest you will learn during your 5 1/2-weeks training course and through our experienced colleagues.

    Ideally, you'll have a current valid driver's license, be reasonably fit and have good written and verbal communications skills, using those skills to manage and control all situations. This role requires a high level of responsibility, vigilance, and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and care. You will be an integral part of the judicial process, ensuring that justice is administered safely and securely. Our roles would suit those who have a particular interest in criminology or psychology.

    Our Assessment Process:

    Briefing call to assess eligibility -> Competency based Virtual Interview -> short role-play and written exercise.

    Additional Information:

    All roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and all offers of employment are subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks with Enhanced DBS (Adult & Child Barring) and satisfactory employment references.

    Serco Maritime have an exciting opening for a Marine Engineering Officer to join the team and serve aboard an RFA vessel in support of an exciting project. The purpose of the role is to manage the organisation and activities of the Marine Engineering Department, as directed by the Chief Engineer.

    As owners and operators of specialist vessels, from harbour workboats to oceangoing support vessels, we provide world class integrated maritime services both in the UK and abroad.     As part of this role you'll

    Delegate tasks and assign duties to members of the Marine Engineering Department. Inform the Chief Engineer of any engineering defects which affect the operational capability of the vessel. Be responsible for the effectiveness, welfare, and discipline of departmental personnel Be responsible for the Marine Engineering Department continuous training, ensuring that statutory and RFA requirements are achieved within the given timescales. When no CTO borne, to assume the training responsibilities of that function for Cadets of the Marine Engineering specialisation. To assist the Executive Officer in planning and organising whole ship training serials. To be conversant with, and implement, Health and Safety at Work Regulations and the Code of Safe Working Practices in so far as they apply to the Marine Engineering Department. To apply the international standard for the safe management and operation of ship's and for pollution prevention (ISM) and implement the RFA Regulations for Royal Fleet Auxiliaries. To manage all marine engineering evolutions, ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with statutory regulations and RFA Policy. To ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all deck machinery, lift machinery, hoists, replenishment machinery, mechanical handling equipment, ship's boat engines and their associated systems. To ensure routine testing, maintenance and inspection of ships fixed firefighting and safety equipment is carried out. To be responsible for preparing and advising the Maintenance Manager on Marine Engineering Department Alterations and Additions (A&As). To manage the Engine room Watch Keeping and PMS (UMS) requirements to meet RFA and MCA regulations to ensure the safe and efficient operation and upkeep of machinery affecting the safety of the ship. To ensure the proper operation and maintenance of permanent on-board aviation technical facilities and associated systems, except for communications systems.

    Here at Serco we are looking for Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our FM department at HMP Ashfield a category C male establishment prison based in Pucklechurch near Bristol. The operational capacity is for 416 prisoners and it takes a skilled team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper working order.

    The key purpose of this role is to carry out routine HVAC and/or Mechanical Engineering work, preventative maintenance and repairs. You will ensure that various pre planned maintenance schedules are kept up to date and maintained as may be required. The role calls for leadership and setting visible standards of personal performance and accountability and the post holder is expected to function with a degree of independence.

    Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

    Carry out fault finding and defect rectification to items of installed plant and equipment as may be defined and specified Assist in multi trade support of other members of the FM service team in completing work, ie plumbing Escort contractors around the site as and when required in accordance with written procedures. Carry out the installation of new plant and apparatus as may be defined and specified. Carry out investigations into the performance of the plant and equipment installed in the site and to produce related reports and recommendations as may be required. Become familiar with the operation and maintenance of the various systems and equipment installed in the whole of the premises as defined or requested.     What you'll need to do the job

    You are required to have HVAC and/or Mechanical Engineering Qualification (C&G, NVQ). You should be a member of relevant technical professional body desired.

    You must hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and must have 3 years post qualification experience.

    The successful candidate must enjoy working as part of a team and getting stuck in to everything and anything FM related! You will have a flexible and proactive approach, with a commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. You will be expected to be part of a call out rota and potential weekend working.
