    We are seeking a part time Archivist (2 to 3 days per week, with flexible working arrangements and onsite working due to the nature of the role) who is passionate about the value that history can add to an innovative client-focused business.


    Your role will have a focus on maximising the positive impact that our history can have for our stakeholders, together with ensuring that the archive collections continue to reflect our evolving business in a digital environment.


    In return the role will give you the opportunity to develop the collections further, take ownership of your own workload, and continuously improve and develop policies and processes.

    The Schroders Archive contains around 1,500m of largely business records dating from 1817 to the present day, with the majority from the 20th century. The Archive also holds c350,000Mb of digital records.


    The base


    We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.


    What you'll do


    •Interpret and communicate our history for our people, our clients and other stakeholders •Ensure the preservation and professional management of over 200 years of paper and digital archive collections •Develop and implement our active digital collecting•Review and maximise the potential of our digital preservation system •Develop and implement our oral history collecting•Encourage and facilitate the use of the archive by external researchers•Review and implement archive policies •Ensure discovery and cataloguing are fit for purpose •Respond to enquiries•Form strong relationships with key stakeholders from across the business and beyond •Support and protect our corporate reputation and history, with a sensitivity to cultural differences.


    The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need


    •Postgraduate qualification in archive management •Experience in the care of archive collections •Experienced user of archive collection management and digital preservation systems •Good understanding of descriptive and authority standards including ISAD(G) •Good understanding of GDPR and other relevant legislation.


    The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help


    •Previous experience of working in a listed-company environment or within financial services would be advantageous, but is not essential •Previous experience of CALM and Preservica would be highly advantageous, however training can be provided•An interest in 20th century financial and business history.

    The Wealth Planning team consists of Wealth Planners, Paraplanners and Client Support Executives (CSE). Each Paraplanner works alongside two Wealth Planners and has support from a CSE. As a Paraplanning team, we meet regularly to discuss changes and share technical knowledge. You will be an integral part to the client experience, having the opportunity to attend client meetings alongside your technical work. You will ensure that delivering a high level of service to our clients is always achieved.  What you’ll d o
    The Paraplanning role is varied and you will have exposure to different areas of financial planning. 
    • Work as part of a team assisting Wealth Planners in managing clients' planning needs and solutions; 
    • Be an additional point of contact when the Wealth Planners are not available and develop relationships of trust with the clients; 
    • Attend client meetings with the Wealth Planner, on occasion, to broaden your understanding of the advisory process and to strengthen relationships with clients; 
    • Take responsibility for the timely drafting of client reason-why letters;
    • To assist the Wealth Planners in assessing and researching options and solutions for clients; 
    • Handle other administrative duties promptly. This would include letters, new client take-on forms, preparation of advisory correspondence / annual reviews and assisting with proposal preparation; 
    • To react to all client-related enquiries in a timely manner and maintain a record of responses;
    • Deal with insurance companies, as required, to obtain client policy information or new illustrations and product information; 
    • Check that new business and client files are compliant and in line with Cazenove Capital's procedures; 
    • Work closely with the Wealth Planning support team and delegate administrative work as required;
    • Maintain and update your knowledge through continual professional development (CPD) and examinations, where suitable;
    • Embody the core Schroders’ values of Excellence, Innovation, Teamwork, Passion and Integrity in all aspects of your work. The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; 
    • A keen interest in and a good understanding of the Wealth Management and financial planning industries; 
    • Experience working within the financial services sector, ideally for a wealth management firm or financial advisory practice with an HNW client base;
    • FCA approved Level 4 RDR compliant qualification in financial planning or equivalent. The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help 
    • Familiarity with the fund management, professional advisory, IFA or life company industry;
    • Minimum 3 ‘A' levels or equivalent;
    • Good understanding of Intelliflo Office and The Exchange.

The Wealth Service Centre Accounting team manages the financial reporting requirements for our Wealth Management subsidiaries.
