    We are looking for a qualified auditor to join our Film, TV and Video Games team in London. This is a busy and rewarding role that would suit someone looking partner with clients in an exciting industry.

    In this position, you will report into managers, directors, and partners.

    Our clients include all of the major Hollywood studios, major streaming networks as well as many independent film and television production companies in the US and UK. We also work with many other entities ancillary to film and television production, such as film financiers, visual effects and post-production houses and other service providers. Finally, we work with a number of video games developers ranging from small independents to large multi-national studios.

    The responsibilities

    Aside from the typical audit/accountancy work you might expect, the more specialised work you would have exposure to would be as follows:
    Preparation and review of BFI certificate applications Preparation of production expenditure analysis for inclusion in tax returns Preparation of expenditure credit estimates for upcoming productions/games Preparation of production cost report audits for both individual productions and co-productions Preparation and audit of funding applications and reports
    The team

    The Film & TV division has approximately 80 staff, including 7 Partners and 3 Directors. You will have a support network from Trainees all the way up to Partners.

    The Film & TV team is separate from the other audit departments within the firm, though works alongside other teams.

    You

    The team
    Our Southern Regional Group consists of four offices based in Bristol, Peterborough, Bournemouth and High Wycombe. We have over 30 corporate tax staff working in the Southern Regional Group, including two Partners, three Directors and five Senior Managers.

    This position will be based within our Peterborough office but there will be opportunities to work on clients across all four offices.

    You
    Candidates must be proactive, resilient and be able to market their skills and those of the firm, both on a one-to-one basis and in presentations. They should be innovative with vision, creativity and flair. They should possess the confidence and professionalism to establish credibility at all levels, be commercially minded and have a clear perception of client requirements.

    Candidates will require recent practical experience of providing tax advice to owner-managed businesses, with a detailed and up to date working knowledge of corporate tax issues a given. Whilst technical skills are obviously important, this position also requires a team-orientated and flexible personality, alongside the experience of organising the delivery of tax work, problem solving and the ability to use their own initiative. The individual must be able to look at the tax issues of private companies both from the point of view of the company structure, and that of their owners.

    Applicants should be preferably CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified.

    Following in depth training, the candidate will be required to work to a high level of accuracy and to prescribed processes including:

    Completing ongoing client due diligence procedures to ensure our information remains up-to-date and compliant.
    Performing research with third party tools and systems as part of ongoing KYC procedures.
    Completing documentation and analysis of KYC information to validate client information and assess client risks.
    Where information is missing or not in the public domain, interacting with stakeholders including the client-facing practice to obtain this information.

    The team

    The Financial Crime Compliance Team (FCC Team) forms part of Saffery's wider risk management function. The FCC team is responsible for ensuring Saffery's compliance with AML regulations and we are recruiting for an analyst to join our ongoing refresh sub-team. The successful applicant will be responsible for completing ongoing monitoring/CDD refresh reviews to ensure KYC/CDD is up-to-date for existing clients of the firm.

    The office

    This role is based in our London office and will require the successful candidates to be within commuting distance to attend the office twice a week.

    You

    Experience in client onboarding/ CDD (this must be in the accountancy or legal sector, not banking).

    We are looking for people who:

    Are enthusiastic about developing themselves and can look beyond the surface when situations don't seem black and white.
    Have an aptitude for digesting information and completing work to high standards, whilst being highly motivated and confident to work independently, but with support from more experienced team members.
    Are adaptive and open-minded when things don't go to plan.
    Are excellent communicators with the skills and confidence to have conversations with high level stakeholders both in person, and on the phone.
    Can quickly understand and multitask across several IT applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, as a minimum.
    Display strong literacy / numeracy with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    Have a proven ability to work to specified KPIs and when needed, demanding deadlines,
    Can demonstrate a proven ability to absorb and build an understanding of complex information and articulate the same in a specified format.

    This role manages the firm's Financial Control and Partnership Accounting, with line management of a team.

    The partnership accounting side of the role covers the day to day management of all partner related matters including partner current and capital accounts and maintenance of the firm's partner database and profit allocation model.
    The responsibilities
    • Ownership of all partner standing data and ensuring that the partner database and profit models contain accurate data.
    • Management of partner capital, current and tax retention accounts, ensuring that monthly drawings and profit releases are processed accurately and acting as a key point of contact.
    • Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycle, ensuring that journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions (including professional indemnity) are accounted for on a timely and accurate basis.
    • Monthly analytical review of key P&L account lines to spot anomalies.
    • Working closely with FP&A, to reconcile the management accounts figures to the financial accounts.
    • Responsible for ensuring that balance sheet and control accounts are reconciled monthly.
    • Responsible for the firm's direct and overhead cost accounting (including both opex and capex).
    • Responsible for the firm's weekly and monthly cash flow planning and working with the Finance Director to support funding and banking arrangements.
    • Introduce and maintain internal accounting policies and processes that result in a robust control environment, ensuring that other parts of the Finance team and the wider business adhere to those procedures.
    • Leading the firm's annual audit and statutory accounts production.
    • Oversight for the firm's VAT return and working with the external partnership tax advisor to ensure that the partnership tax return is filed on time.
    • Support the rewriting and simplifying of partner profit allocation, year-end models and other partnership accounting models.

    The team

    The Finance department consists of 25 Finance professionals, operating across three specialist areas - Financial Control, Financial Operations and Financial Reporting. This role works under the day-to-day supervision of the Finance Director, ultimately reporting into the Finance Partner.

    You

    You

Ability to provide advice and guidance to others. Able to establish and maintain strong and credible working relationships and influence others. Ability to analyse and interpret complex information/data and understand the impact on their discipline and wider firm. Strong computer literacy and understanding of relevant software. Keeps up to date on all required training such as information security. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating with technical and non-technical clients and staff at all organisational levels. High levels of commitment and ability to act when necessary. Team-focused mentality, understanding that the function must work collaboratively to drive success.

    The role would suit an ACA/CTA qualified and have experience in a Senior Management/ Director level position.

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
    Strong UK VAT technical skills and familiarity with international VAT issues. Ability to analyse tax technical queries and provide robust advice and solutions. Project management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work and meet deadlines. Experience of managing a team, and helping to deliver a very high standard of professional work to a challenging and varied portfolio of clients. Responsibility for the delivery and quality of work. Excellent communication skills. A clear client focus with a commitment to building strong client relationships. Ability to work collaboratively in different teams. Coaching and mentoring skills to develop other team members. Ability to build closer relationships with other London service lines to increase VAT involvement in their clients. Experience working with partners/teams across London to ensure VAT is part of all BD initiatives/targeting etc. Ability to increase visibility of VAT within relevant practice groups.
