    The role includes the provision of ad hoc advice related to the annual compliance cycle to our growing portfolio of individuals, trusts, partnerships, LLPs across a range of sectors, particularly landed estates and rural businesses.

    As a training office, there is also an expectation that the candidate would support the development of more junior staff in on the job training.

    There are opportunities to get involved in firm wide advisory, committees and presentations if the individual wishes to do so.

    The Team

    The Tax Services Group North (TSGN) consists of over 50 employees spread over 4 UK offices (Edinburgh, Inverness, Leeds and Manchester). The team delivers exceptional quality compliance and advisory services to a wide range of high-net-worth private clients, these include those with UK and offshore interests, property owners, business owners, partnerships and trusts.

    You

    Key characteristics and skills required:
    • A positive and enthusiastic attitude
    • A high level of motivation, ability and commitment
    • Will have previous relevant experience of management as will be managing your own portfolio whilst also being responsible for reviewing the work of more junior tax staff
    • Will be experienced in the delivery and management of personal tax compliance services
    • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills are essential to ensure all deadlines are met
    • Will have had experience in the provision of tailored advice, including, inheritance and capital gains tax planning, international tax aspects, and trust planning. The exact mix of advisory will be tailored to the strengths of the individual, but a broad base is required to permit work in most if not all of the above areas. Land based issues form a significant part of the current workload.
    • Will be from a professional services background
    • Will be a confident communicator to colleagues, partners and clients
    • Comfortable working on own initiative as well as being a good team player
    • High attention to detail and the ability to work in a timely manner

    The Team

    The Accounts and Audit team within the Bristol office comprises over 40 members of staff ranging from Directors to accounts assistants and audit juniors. The team reports to all of the partners within the office on a variety of tasks ranging from audits, outsourcing and management accounts, VAT returns, statutory accounts preparation and ad-hoc client queries.

    The Office

    We offer accounting, audit and assurance, business advisory, corporate finance, tax and VAT services. We act for businesses and individuals both in the UK and internationally. Our staff work regularly and closely with their colleagues in our national offices to provide a seamless service to clients, wherever they are located.

    Our Bristol office is home to 8 partners and over 100 members of staff.

    You

    This role manages the firm's Financial Control and Partnership Accounting, with line management of a team.

    The partnership accounting side of the role covers the day to day management of all partner related matters including partner current and capital accounts and maintenance of the firm's partner database and profit allocation model.
    The responsibilities
    • Ownership of all partner standing data and ensuring that the partner database and profit models contain accurate data.
    • Management of partner capital, current and tax retention accounts, ensuring that monthly drawings and profit releases are processed accurately and acting as a key point of contact.
    • Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycle, ensuring that journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions (including professional indemnity) are accounted for on a timely and accurate basis.
    • Monthly analytical review of key P&L account lines to spot anomalies.
    • Working closely with FP&A, to reconcile the management accounts figures to the financial accounts.
    • Responsible for ensuring that balance sheet and control accounts are reconciled monthly.
    • Responsible for the firm's direct and overhead cost accounting (including both opex and capex).
    • Responsible for the firm's weekly and monthly cash flow planning and working with the Finance Director to support funding and banking arrangements.
    • Introduce and maintain internal accounting policies and processes that result in a robust control environment, ensuring that other parts of the Finance team and the wider business adhere to those procedures.
    • Leading the firm's annual audit and statutory accounts production.
    • Oversight for the firm's VAT return and working with the external partnership tax advisor to ensure that the partnership tax return is filed on time.
    • Support the rewriting and simplifying of partner profit allocation, year-end models and other partnership accounting models.

    The team

    The Finance department consists of 25 Finance professionals, operating across three specialist areas - Financial Control, Financial Operations and Financial Reporting. This role works under the day-to-day supervision of the Finance Director, ultimately reporting into the Finance Partner.

    You

    The Tax Services Group South (TSGS) consists of over 50 employees spread over 4 UK offices (Bristol, Bournemouth, High Wycombe, and Peterborough). The team delivers exceptional quality compliance and advisory services to a wide range of high-net-worth private clients, these include those with UK and offshore interests, property owners, business owners, partnerships and trusts.

    The Team

    You will be part of the Accounts Team in our Bournemouth office comprising of circa 15 members of staff from accounts trainees up to Director. The team work with all partners within the office, and firmwide, on a variety of tasks including statutory accounts preparation and ad-hoc advisory work.

    There is a real focus on development within the team, with the aim being for staff to develop their careers long term within the firm. Alongside a commitment to client service, and excellence in their work, there is a willingness to help each other and succeed as a team.

    The Office

    Our Bournemouth office provides a full range of accounting, audit and assurance, business advisory, tax, and VAT services to businesses and individuals both in the UK and internationally. Our staff regularly collaborate with colleagues in our national offices to ensure seamless service delivery to clients, no matter where they are located. The Bournemouth office offers a small office feel within the larger Saffery family of around 1200 people. Our Bournemouth office is home to 5 partners and more than 70 members of staff.

    You
    Preferably AAT qualified, part way through ACA/ACCA qualification or newly ACA/ACCA qualified and some prior experience of working in practice. Strong numeracy and analytical skills, along with the ability to learn quickly. A good knowledge of Excel and Word is essential. Understanding of other accounting systems would be helpful but is not an essential requirement. Self-motivated and pro-active, with the ability to organise your own workload. Display a flexible, professional approach and have the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with managers, partners and clients. Natural team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and excellent eye for detail. Excellent organisational skills and ability to work on multiple jobs at once Ability to work in a pressured environment Proactive nature and enjoys working as part of a team.
