Recent examples include Google's new London HQ in Kings Cross, Jewel Changi airport in Singapore, the National Theatre in London, and The Illuminated River project on the river Thames. These projects had a variety of impacts on the stakeholders involved, so please read more about how we put our problem solving skills towards achieving our goal of finding ways for our buildings to tread more lightly on the planet. The kinds of projects we work on vary considerably. We look to apply robust and sustainable solutions to a huge variety of projects that we get to work on; they include small or large commercial developments, small or large residential schemes, theatres, museums and education buildings, as well as town or city masterplans. These schemes can be located anywhere in the world. The role will vary depending on which discipline or disciplines the applicant wishes to pursue and experience. However, whatever discipline or team you might wish to pursue its important to know that we prioritise our people through training, team building, and company events, we strive to deliver the best quality product for our clients through our collaborative design led approach, and we genuinely put sustainability at the top of our project agenda. What we offer? We are offering a training scheme for grads that combines on-the-job training working closely with technical mentors and leaders on projects, with extensive CPD opportunities, including those tailored specifically to those starting out in a career in the built environment. We wish our people to develop their careers through the experiences and opportunities we offer. You’ll Stand Out If You:·On track for a minimum 2:1 degree (MEng, BEng, BSc)·Self-motivated and eager to grow their career·Adaptable and enthusiastic about learning·Have permanent UK work rights·Strong in technical, analytical, and numerical skills·Effective team players with collaborative spirit·Open to exploring different disciplines before specialising·Creative problem-solvers who stay flexible under pressure·Clear and confident communicators·Committed to continuous development and learningExplore the real-life stories below for a glimpse into a day in the life of exceptional graduates, showcasing their journeys, challenges, and achievements.Day in the life of a Public Health GradAs a public health graduate, the typical day can vary quite a lot depending on which projects I have going on and what design stage they are.A typical day in the office involves doing calculations on a range of services, from a hot water demand profile for a London office building to drainage pipework sizing in a residential tower, or doing a water balance calculation for a large development in Africa. I also could be collaborating with other disciplines to coordinate services within a 3D Revit model or liaising with local water authorities about new or existing supplies. Some days we will not be in the office, that is usually on-site reviewing installations and looking for anything that deviates from our design, witnessing tests or signing off correct installations.Occasionally we will be invited to factories to learn about new products and technologies and how we can incorporate these into our designs. There is also the opportunity to be involved with various committees and groups such as EDI (equity diversity and inclusion) or the social committee, for which we have regular meetings where we plan events or suggest new ideas.Day in the life of a Electrical Engineer GradAs an electrical engineering graduate in building services, you spend your day working on both design and construction aspects of building projects. In the office, you work with specialised software like AutoCAD or Revit to design electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and data networks. You ensure that your designs meet safety regulations and energy efficiency standards while integrating smoothly with the mechanical, structural, and architectural aspects of the building.Collaboration is key, so you frequently meet with senior engineers, project managers, and other teams to discuss project requirements, resolve technical issues, and adjust designs. You will also work on electrical load calculations, select appropriate equipment, and ensure compliance with local building codes. While on site you will inspect ongoing construction work to verify that electrical systems are installed correctly and according to your designs.Occasionally we will be invited to factories to learn about new products and technologies and how we can incorporate these into our designs.Outside of office life, there are plenty of social occasions, such as joining a sports club or the annual softball match between junior and senior staff! We also have end of the month socials and bi-annual "culture days" - there really is something for everyone, even a weekly board games evening!Day in the life of a Mechanical Engineer GradI joined Atelier Ten as a graduate mechanical engineer three years ago, fresh out of university, and since then, my role has evolved into that of an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer. Every day presents a new opportunity to work on innovative projects, collaborate with inspiring colleagues, and continue to grow both professionally and personally. At Atelier Ten, we're known for our sustainable design-based solutions, and as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team working on high-profile projects across the globe. No two days are the same, and your journey into mechanical engineering will be filled with exciting challenges and opportunities to grow.A typical day might begin with performing mechanical load calculations, focusing on key mechanical systems such as heating, cooling, and ventilation, ensuring that each design complies with local building codes and meets energy efficiency standards. Part of your role also involves design work using specialised software like AutoCAD and Revit to spatially plan systems, and selecting project-specific equipment to ensure everything runs smoothly.Collaboration is a huge part of your role, so you’ll frequently meet with senior engineers, colleagues from other disciplines and architects to help fine-tune designs and ensure that the project stays on track. As you gain experience, you’ll take on more responsibility, and you’ll be encouraged to contribute to project decisions. Some days, you’ll head out to construction sites to witness the installation of mechanical systems. These visits give you a valuable, hands-on understanding of how your designs are being brought to life in the real world. Seeing your work materialise on-site is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.Beyond your core responsibilities, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with Atelier Ten’s inclusive and vibrant culture. Whether it’s joining the EDIB (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging) group to promote a welcoming and diverse workplace or becoming part of the social committee to help plan exciting events, you’ll find lots of ways to contribute to the company’s community.Atelier Ten also offers a great social life, from joining the company photography club to participating in the annual softball match. Monthly social events, bi-annual "culture days," and even a weekly board games night ensure there’s something for everyone. If you’re passionate about sustainability, innovative design, and working in a collaborative, supportive environment, this is the perfect place for you!Day in the life of a Environmental Design Grad
As an environmental designer graduate, this is going to sound cliché, but no two days are the same, and the variety mainly depends on the types of projects I’m working on.A typical day in the office could involve performing environmental assessments, like energy modelling or embodied carbon calculations for a cinema in London. I might be reviewing the thermal performance of a façade, and daylight access for a government building in Canada, or analysing the potential for natural ventilation in a retrofit office building. On occasion I would go on site visits, whether it's during construction to make sure sustainable design features are on track for benchmarking purposes, or before construction kicks off to spot opportunities for circular economy strategies, like material reuse and waste reduction.A big part of my role involves collaborating with architects and engineers to ensure sustainability goals are integrated smoothly into the overall design, and tools like Rhino and IES-VE are essential in this process. What really helps with this collaboration is being involved in projects from day one. By attending weekly design meetings, even as a junior, I get the chance to learn, contribute, and work closely with the team. Atelier Ten is also great at fast-tracking our learning with internal training sessions that help bridge the gap between academic theory and practical, real-world skills, making it easier to hit the ground running. On top of that, there is strong focus on being innovative, so we have dedicated time to research and go to conferences on new materials, technologies, legislation, or manufacturing processes etc... We then have the chance to share our findings in forums like Friday Knowledge Share sessions, ToTs (Training on Thursday), or our weekly team meetings. This really create a collaborative learning culture across the team.Outside of the project work, there’s a great emphasis on building a strong team spirit. Whether it's starting the day with a coffee catch-up, enjoying Friday drinks, celebrating the completion of a project, or playing tennis, softball, basketball, football - you name it, there are plenty of opportunities to socialise and connect with the people you work with.Reasonable AdjustmentsWe are committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. If you require any reasonable adjustments or additional support—such as receiving the application form in an alternative format—please don’t hesitate to contact our recruitment team.Your experience throughout the application process is important to us.
