    About the roleAs a Design Engineer, you will contribute to early‑stage civil and structural design across a range of rail, highways, energy and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. This includes the design of operational infrastructure such as bridges, stations and heavy civils, ensuring integration and coordination with multiple engineering disciplines to deliver cohesive and efficient project solutions.You will also support the inspection, strengthening design, and replacement design of operational infrastructure such as bridges. This will require close coordination with key stakeholders such as Network Rail and TfL.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct structural surveys and desk studies, providing initial technical advicePrepare conceptual and outline designs with support from senior team membersDevelop detailed design calculations in accordance with Eurocodes and relevant guidanceUse 3D software packages to produce accurate structural modelsPrepare detailed design drawings and specifications for tender and constructionRespond to client queries and requests for informationSupport the production of construction documentation for contractorsAttend site visits during construction to monitor progress and provide technical inputCollaborate with internal disciplines and attend coordination meetingsProvide day-to-day support to colleagues across the officeParticipate in internal and external team meetingsGradually assume greater responsibility and autonomy as professional skills developWhat we are looking for?A degree in Structural Engineering or Civil & Structural Engineering with a strong interest in structural design. Ideally working towards chartership with the IStructE or ICE, or already chartered. Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification (desirable). Flexibility and initiative to respond effectively to challenging situations. Ability to take on responsibility appropriate to your level of capability. Familiarity with Eurocodes, Network Rail and Highways design and assessment standards.
