Your Role
As Head of Engineering Transformation, you will be responsible for all aspects of new product development within the directorate. You will be responsible for the end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) process, from initially liaising with the customer through to delivery of production ready solutions including all relevant paperwork and certification.
This new role will form a part of our Engineering and Supply (ES) Department Senior Leadership Team. The ES Department design, build, supply, support and maintain the RNLIs buildings, boats and equipment to help save lives and keep our people safe. Together, their vision is to deliver trusted, sustainable solutions to bring our people home safely. This will be achieved by empowering people to be the best they can be and embracing data, innovative thinking and technology to continually improve reliability, safety and availability.
About You
We are looking for someone with excellent, proven experience in a similar role, ideally from a marine or engineering environment.To be considered as our new Head of Engineering Transformation, you will also need to be able to demonstrate:
- Significant experience of business and product development, introducing appropriate processes, structures and measures of success - Proven experience in formulating annual business plans, monitoring and reporting - Significant experience in driving improvement and delivering results against clear and measurable targets and standards - Experience of leading, managing, developing and/or motivating multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating across a variety of stakeholders - Experience of change leadership and delivering programmes / projects across a diverse range of stakeholders - Chartered Engineer (CEng), Engineering Degree

We are currently recruiting for the role of Engine Shop Section Leader at our Inshore Lifeboat Centre (ILC), based on the Isle of Wight. This position is responsible for the efficient running of the engine workshop, building, refitting and repairing a variety of marine outboard engines as well as diesel engines and associated systems in support of the main IB1/D-Class & Atlantic lifeboats and launching vehicles.

About the role
You will be expected to work closely with other Section Leaders involved in the production line and report progress at the relevant production meetings, and hold responsibility for the performance management of all your allocated staff in the department through the RNLI RADAR system. The ability to motivate a team, remain involved with practical workshop tasks to meet productive requirements, manage Health and Safety requirements and constantly improve work practices will be of significant importance.

We will be looking to recruit a highly organised and self-motivated individual with relevant trade and leadership experience, adept at managing workshop operations, able to support technicians with diagnostic, repair and technical problem solving with a focus on maintaining the highest standard of service.
