    A leading independent consultancy is expanding its infrastructure team and is seeking an Associate Highways & Drainage Engineer or a strong Principal ready to step up to help deliver major strategic development projects across Hampshire.

    The Role

    You’ll lead the design and delivery of highways and drainage infrastructure, primarily across large strategic housing sites (5–10+ year programmes). Working closely with project managers and multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll ensure high-quality engineering outputs, technical compliance, and strong client communication throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Leading feasibility, detailed design and delivery of drainage & highway schemes
    Preparing and reviewing S38, S278, S104, S102 & S185 submissions
    Managing client relationships, project programmes, scopes and budgets
    Overseeing multi-disciplinary coordination and technical quality
    Producing high-quality reports, briefs, calculations, and design documents
    Supporting planning applications and discharge of conditions
    Supervising and mentoring junior engineers
    Conducting site visits, monitoring compliance, and supporting construction delivery
    Hybrid working applies, but a minimum of 3 days per week in Aldershot plus 1 day per week in Waterlooville is required.

    What You’ll Bring

    Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
    Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or CIHT
    10+ years’ experience in UK highways & drainage design
    Strong record delivering S38, S278, S104 and planning-led infrastructure
    Proficiency with DMRB, MfS, MCHW, LTN 1/20 and UK design standards
    Skilled in managing clients, design teams, finances and programmes
    SuDS design and drainage strategy preparation
    Civil 3D, AutoCAD, InfoDrainage / Flow, MS Project
    Business development, fee proposals and resourcing
