We are looking for candidates who have a technical background in mechanical and/or electrical systems, preferably in a turbine discipline, and with good analytical fault-finding capabilities on Electrical, Mechanical & Hydraulic systems. Experience on Vestas V80 MK2 and 5 wind turbines is highly valued.AccountabilitiesThe role would suit an experienced Wind Turbine Technician who aspires in further developing their own capabilities in the delivery of high-quality maintenance activities and willing to contribute positively to the continued development of the business.Be a good communicator both written & verbally and be proficient in customer interface at site level and in pre-task co-ordination. Due to increased demand from our clients, we are seeking an HV Senior Authorised Person (33kV) to grow and improve this service.The SAP is a site-based role performing Operation & Maintenance duties on utility-scale solar/wind and battery storage sites and home/office working for other duties.Candidate must currently hold, or have recently held, 11 - 33kV SAP status. Experience operating and maintaining utility-scale renewable sites/equipment or DNO assets, would be desirable.You will need to be located near/travel to operational plants and have a full driving licence.This is a permanent role and will require availability for weekend and on-call duties, including overnight callouts.AccountabilitiesThe responsibilities of the HV SAP’s include:Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standardsAchieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status.Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment. Full time employee and contracting positions will be available for a planned start date from April 2025 to June 2025.AccountabilitiesContinuously assess proper operation of the wind farm power controller and report detected malfunctionsMake manual interventions to keep the wind farm assets in compliance with the grid code in the event of wind farm power controller failure.Place and remove individual turbines from the wind farm power controller system as required for works onsite.Respond to substation (ONCS and OFCS) alarms including relay tripping of circuit breakers.Prepare switching programs for the first energisation of different assets in the Project (and any following energisation processes).To ensure that first energisation is carried out in accordance with country legislation.Perform planned, reactive and emergency switching on substation assets by following approved switching programs and Switching Schedules.Continuous remote monitoring of IAC Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system and any ancillary systems (ONCS, OFCS).Confirm full availability of SCADA communication and checks and monitoring of any Insulating Gas Density Dependant (IGDD) isolations at the start of morning shift.Prepare daily availability report in accordance with Employer provided WTG Availability Report template and distribute among the relevant Employer stakeholders (day).Attend the daily Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) meeting for planning next day’s work activities, ensure there are no conflicting activities on locations and agree on planned works. Control room attendee(s) (preferably the Electrical Work Coordination Service) to highlight any potential issues from a safety from the system perspective and inform the Project of any Safety Rules Connection Certificate (SRCC) that are planned to be enacted the following day.Confirm all night shift documentation and control consent have been agreed.Send out the team-work planning to the SAPs/APs updated mail group so all members who are on shift the following day are aware of each other’s whereabouts (day). Filling the planning is the responsibility of the duty SAP or Control Engineer in their absence.Ensure checklist is complete for the day and that all work requests and emails are read, filed and actioned.Anything deemed not completed should be noted (day).Confirm consent for turbine pauses overnight at start of night shift. No turbine should be paused without prior consent.Confirm full availability of SCADA communication at start of night shift.Update daily availability report and distribute among the relevant Employer stakeholders (night).Manage any outage requests and include planned outages into the planning as relevant. Details of the requested outages should be collated and ready for the weekly outage meeting.Ensure team-work planning reflects the rota which matches against the team shift planner (night).Ensure checklist is complete for the day and that all work requests and emails are read, filed and actioned. Anything deemed not completed should be noted (night).Create daily alarms reports (information retrieved from the SCADA systems) and distribute them to the Project stakeholders when and as instructed by the Employer, including an analysis of all the alarms detected/activated and any faulty/abnormal conditions observed in any system.Alarms acknowledgement in the SCADA Systems, including planning and carrying out any required analysis/investigation of potential faults. There will be initial support available from existing staff within the Asset Management Team.This role will report to the Advisory Services Manager in the UK&I and will also work closely with the Asset Managers, Business Development Managers, Operations Support Team, AM Finance Team and other departments within RES.Although the role will be focused on UK&I we are delivering services across Europe and would welcome applications from candidates who can be based in our other European offices.Key AccountabilitiesAs Battery Storage Consultant you will:Understand and interpret client’s needs, clearly communicating client’s goals to internal and external stakeholdersBe responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Advisory Services and one-off projects on behalf of clients including due diligence, owners engineering and general technical missionSupport our growth and cost reduction targetsUndertake technical, project management, commercial and customer-facing activitiesSupport regular communication with target clients and provide feedback to the business units to refine the product offeringReportingPrepare & deliver presentations and reports for Asset Management team and/or clientsInternal EngagementEnsuring that appropriate contracts are agreed with clients and time and cost is accounted for appropriately within the businessEnsure the quality of work meets clients’ expectationsWork with all internal stakeholders, and any sub-contractorsEnsure project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budgetSupporting the development of proposals to secure new workResponsibility for the financial performance of any projects managedMentor and support less experienced team membersIdentify and communicate relevant technological developments or regulatory changes which may impact the business or provide new opportunitiesExternal EngagementWork with clients to identify their requirements and key points of contactAttending client meetings and undertaking site visits within the UK and globallyKnowledgeUnderstanding of technical aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projectsKnowledge of battery energy storage systemsEstablished network of contacts within the renewables industryUnderstanding of commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects (including project finance)SkillsProven ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in EnglishStrong commercial and contractual awarenessTeam playerProject managementInitiative/Self motivatedPlanning and organisingAttention to DetailCompleter finisherAbility to manage and prioritise multiple tasksWillingness to travelProficiency in other language(s)ExperiencePrevious demonstrable experience in performing owners engineering, due diligence, technical advisory and/or consultancy activities in the BESS energy fieldSimilar consultancy or in-field experience with battery storage systemsExperience in the renewables industry in a technical consulting capacityManaging budgets and project costsClient facing experience in a consultancy roleContract specification review and preparationCompetent user of Microsoft Office365 productsQualificationsDegree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or relevant Business / Commercial disciplineValid driving licence for use within UKAt RES, we celebrate differences as we know it makes our company a great place to work.
